  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Best track from weak artist?

What are some tracks that seemed to come out of nowhere from artists that seemingly had no talent?

For me, the perfect example is "ms Jackson" by Outkast (actually only the first and last verse by big boi only). They can't make a decent track, but both of big boi's verses from that are unbelievably raw. I didn't expect it, and I'm not expecting anything like it again.

How about YOU? Yeah YOU!

I dont think you can call Outkast a weak artist. I think they are some of the only ones in hip hop today with some talent.
But to the actual question...

I dont know. I have an answer...it was a band and song me and my friend were saying the other day, "this is one of the best songs ever, I dont know how this band pulled it off!" but I forget the band and song title :(

I can call them that, because I obviously know more than you about hip-hop :p. It's not that they're that weak, but they're very creative, very innovative, and it just doesn't seem to work.

Though, their style might be what everybody is doing in 20 years ;).

Oasis- "Champagne Supernova"

Really a beautiful song, though I really dislike Oasis for the most part.
I think Liam Gallagher's voice was definitely better on that track than others, but yeah, they were Mancunian brats really, and caused too much trouble outside of concerts to really help their reputation.

From one comment you can deduce my hip hop knowledge? You must be good.
I dont go to the radio for hip hop, just to let you know.
Why doesn't it work??

One by U2...oh wait, that isn't a good song. ;)

*evil snicker* That's a pretty low blow, black; I was thinking about doing something similar with the Beatles, but I didn't, most likely because I'm a nicer guy than you ;)

BTW, have you moseyed over to my last two threads yet?

No, I was probably just moody yesterday. Half the time I think I know more than I really do :(.

It doesn't work because... I don't think so... and that's just... my opinion... and... not everything revolves around me...

You win LOL :). I just can't get into anything by them, I guess that's all. So I guess that track came from an artist that I thought was weak and so it suprised me.

Sorry but Rage is not a "Weak artist"
And they have much better songs than that.

You have to be kidding, the only other good song that travesty of a band have ever released is Guerrila Radio. The other songs the fans all go on about is bullet in the head and Bulls on parade and they suck.

Well, Guerilla Radio was good and was one of the main reasons I liked Tony hawk 2...but then again the only other one I've heard is Killing in the Name of, which is OK.

You know why I think Ice, Ice Baby is remotely decent, Pope Gonzo. Every time I hear the intro for Under Pressure (Queen and David Bowie) Vanilla Ice comes into my head...:p

Well you are so biased that I wont mention the likes of Snakecharmer, Killing in the Name of, People of the Sun...etc etc etc....
You know when you talk music you act as if you are omniscient and always right. I thought that you thought such a being couldnt exist? ;)
Honestly, if you want to discuss music you need to come up with something better than "they suck." Anyone can say that and it accomplishes nothing in the discussion. It is pure opinion, and the more crudely it is phrased the less people pay attention to it.
