Best PC stadegy game?

What's, in your opinion, the best PC stadegy game.
I'd say mine is Battle For Middle Earth but I'm not sure.

The one I probably played most religiously was Total Annihilation, due mainly to the sheer variety of tactics possible.

Well, I haven't been too much into strategy games, but my favorite real-time strategy game has always been Starcraft, even though I never was very good at it. My favorite turn-based strategy game would have to be the Civilization fanchise (have yet to get Civ III, of course). I also really like Rise of Nations, which has both turn-based and real-time elements in it.

I have got to agree on Civ II & III. Starcraft is a fav, plus Warcraft. The game I have played the most and have had the longest is Acendency. I was a game the came out about the same time a Civ I (which I liked too). It is a turn based game. Very few people play it or even hear of it. It was tops in it days. I still play alot of old games that nobody plays anymore.

Civ. was ok, but I found that it wasn't as good (for how similar it was) to Age of Empires or Rise of Nations.

I agree Civ series is the ultimate, its not just about wining a battle but running an empire.

I agree, though I haven't gotten to play LOTR:BFME yet. I've been watching it on the net and it looks amazing.

Yuri's Revenge is a great one...IMO..age of empires and those historical ones don't have any storyline...Starcraft is good too!

I was hooked on starcraft for 3 years..

I would watch replays of the pros "slayers_`boxer`" "Nada" "Rekrul" etc..

I was addicted..

I enjoyed Dungeon Keeper 1, which was great fun. But the best RTS I've ever played would be a tie between Warcraft 3 and Rise of Nations. Both are excellent titles.
