  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A creperie.
Or a dessert house/coffee house.
Jazz club.

I think first dates can be kind of awkward if its the whole 3-course dinner, movie thing and its dragged out and halfway through you realize there isn't much chemistry. Personally, I like to keep it as short & sweet as possible.

I've only been with one person, but one thing I want to do is take her up on a nice evening flight to watch the sunset from 7,000 feet would be nice. Then land and go to dinner and a movie.

I like going to sports world and playing some putt-putt or banging around on the go-carts. It's a lot of fun but still leaves time for conversation and interaction, unlike movies. Very casual too, a no-pressure type situation.

For a first date, you want to have some fun as well as time with each other. Mini golf or bowling are both very fun and allow you to interact with each other. From what I've seen with some of my friends, try to stay away from movies for first dates.

well I'm a romantic, so I'd probably buy flowers, wine and dine her with my own cooking, and take her out to a place very special to me. We'd dance under the stars in the moonlight and eventually we'd fall asleep in the back of my pickup truck holding hands and looking up at the beautiful heavens above. I'm not really the type of guy that "dates" though. If I was just starting to get to know a girl, I certainly wouldn't do anything this extravagent.

I highly suggest for the first couple of dates to do something fun. I am going on a first date with a guy I know from church (met in August, been chatting a little since then, and then a lot more in the past few weeks at social gatherings) and we are going to an Ethiopean restaurant in downtown DC. I've been there before, he's been there before, but it'll be fun because you eat Ethiopean food with your hands (and this special crepe-like bread as a utensil, but that's it). I've been rock-climbing and cycling on early dates as well, and it's a lot more fun than the usual "dinner" or "meet for coffee". We are going to be doing dinner, but it'll be unique dinner

My friend and I (we are kinda on the border between dating and not) 'go crazy' sometimes. This is where one of us makes plans and doesn't tell the other person where we are going. We often end up just walking around downtown (we go to school in the city centre) or going to a new coffee shop, but it is fun all the same, both for the one making the plans and the one who has no idea what is going on.
