  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Opera has been my best browser for a long time, because it is so customizable, and because so many useful features are built into it. But the last two years has been very rough. The founder left the company, and it remains to be seen whether those that remain are going to drive it into the ground. The last rollout was the most amateurish I've ever seen, and whether they can handle the conversion to the Webkit engine is the big question. Still an awesome browser. I'll hang on as long as I can.

Oh, and what's Chromium?

the free (as in freedom) and open-source basis of Chrome. It still has some of the privacy issues that Chrome does, but it's not as bad. It also looks, feels, and runs the same as Chrome. I still would take Firefox over Chromium anyday though. I'm not going to sacrifice the security, stability, and privacy of firefox for slightly faster page loading.

Tough one~in many ways it isn't as clear as it was 5 years ago, seems they've all mostly hit a maturity point of working well. I have two PCs and a Mac and have multiple browsers on all...my boys use Firefox on the PCs, my wife uses Chrome on the Mac, I use Safari on the Mac and Opera on the PCs but can use the others without any problem rendering pages or watching video or being slow.

Haven't tried IE IRL other than the occasional work computer..

I mainly use Firefox. I like the security/privacy they promote. A lot of the extensions I use aren't available for other browsers either. It's a little slower than Chrome which I use as a backup, but the security and privacy are well worth it.

Firefox; I've been using it since version 0.8. Also, at least on this computer, Chrome performs worse than Firefox because of the way it tries to allocate memory. On other systems, it's not noticeable.

I also use Lynx for basic things.

I was having problems with my IE10 so I uninstalled it. I now use Palemoon and Seamonkey. I never heard of either one until a week ago, but think these are a couple I will hold on to. I did give Chrome a try for about month prior to Palemoon and Seamonkey, but it prevented me from doing a couple things. But, I do believe it comes down to preference.

I'm a heavy dedicated chrome user.

Chrome for a while was the most secure browser available. Every year at Defcon - hacker convention in Las Vegas, Google put up money for those who can break into the browser and only recently did it got broken into.

I use Chrome because of stability, it's ability to not eat system resources, Google drive and hangouts integration. Screen sharing with my phone, Chrome book and tablet is another thing that's awesome. Also chromecast is another reason I'm using it.

To this day because of Chrome my computer is malware free. I could never say that with Firefox, and Opera isn't updated anymore (it's not updated enough to keep with the times) I have all the browsers installed though to test all my Web design and webpage work though.

I have not used them all so it's hard for me to say what is best, but after using Chrome for a bit-I have developed an aversion to even the color silver-
