One peson told me God made everything on this earth for us to use. So therefor weed was ok to use. It did make me think but none the less I don't agree it should be used. Maybe in extreme cases like cancer patients...etc.

Many users have shown me studies that show its not as bad as people claim. But at the same time many non users show me oppisite studies. People should see who exactly is doing these studies. Its like when the ciggerate companis have studies that shows cigs aren't that bad...oh and the study is paid for BY the cig company. lol

I don't believe its a sin to smoke weed, but I believe it can lead to sinful things. Just like kissing can lead to sex. You have to avoid things that are tempting. More so if you know you are weaker to such things.

Also to add on the "gateway" theory, I have to say I blame my Mom for giving me breast milk, it was a gateway to alcohol!

Seriously though, marijuana is possibly one of the safest things you can put in your body. The deaths compared to any other "legal" drug is only a very small fraction.

It is true, it can make you feel good and that people do become addicts, but that is like saying McDonalds makes you feel good! And people actually get to addicted fatty foods(a lot actually), so should we start making McDonalds illegal? Or what about the high you get from caffeine? Not to mention numerous studies show that caffeine is far more addictive and damaging to the body than marijuana?

But most people can't see the truth behind the social stigma attached to marijuana.

That said, there have also been studies showing that drinkers and cannabis users were no more likely to abuse harder drugs than others: Predictors of Marijuana Use in Adolescents Before and After Licit Drug Use

That second reference is an important one, which answers the question I asked above. If cannabis users are no more likely than others to abuse heavy drugs than others, then it's not significantly acting as a gateway drug.

I have to agree with Riot on this one, sorry.

It is like saying, McDonalds makes someone fat and lazy...no overeating and having a lazy personality made them that way.

A lot of people love to blame marijuana for their already destructive personalities.

While I get your point those kind of statements are what people will say to make them feeling better about sinning. And yes I know smoking pot is not a sin, although some may argue it is because your ruining your temple. God should be in your body, not weed or beer or whatever.

Back to that statement. My mother has anger issues. But her reasoning is its ok shes angry because at least shes not as bad as her dad. ::insert faceplam here::

lol, I would facepalm too. Sounds like something my mother would say.

Regarding it as sin, I am a Christian and I honestly dont see it as one if it became legal. And after seeing the facts from numerous medical studies, I can safely say it is very very safe to consume.

Also, the "body is a temple" card gets played way too often for marijuana and not enough for the garbage most obese people put into their bodies everyday. But hey, social stigma is more powerful than facts.

True but we can't ignore the first reference. I suspect part of our fear of drug use is that it's a bit of a gamble - not everyone who uses cannabis will become an addict, but people who are addicts almost always started with "safe" drugs.

And others consider it a gateway drug when those with destructive personalities try something stronger when Marijuana does not solve their problems.

There are probably legit uses for itlike the medical issues that have been brought up.
Its not the exact same as alcohol, although small amounts whine - red I think can be good for you. I think the morality behind things is are we harming our bodies and how will the effect of these items effect other people. Like being drunk + driving. I think its about responsibility to yourself and respect for other people. And not that you are still responsible for your actions drunk or whatever. So I guess people are more against a drug that impairs vs a drug that hurt you, ie you can smoke but 2nd hand smoking - bad. Some places you cant smoke in public anymore because it hurts others. But you can smoke.

It's pretty well documented that marijuana has effects on the user's cognitive processes while they are under the influence of it. I said nothing at all about destructive personalities. There is a reason that high people are portrayed as slow, silly, and generally ruh-tarded.

This (and the one on San Fracisco / Amsterdam I posted earlier) seems to show that a great deal of people who use drugs do so just because it's illegal. Once it's not most of the fun goes out of it.

There is no reason to waste a single cent fighting a drug as benign as marijuana. It is difficult to find a drug that kills fewer people than marijuana. Drug policy in the US is insane, wasteful, and destroys lives for no good reason.
