Sure, but "complexity" often equals confusion.
Take flossing for instance. There is a little plastic and string flossing tool that is widely marketed, which of course represents a different (complex?) way of flossing. However, this gadget is so poorly designed that it is not possible to properly floss one's teeth with it. The truth is that there is only one way to properly floss your teeth.

Until your beliefs come hard against the truth. Many then discard their erroneous beliefs, others don't. Many are held captive-against-their-will by long held cherished family beliefs, or disbeliefs.
You didn’t understand my OP. There are things that are true in the sense that it’s how it works for some people. The truth I’m talking about is what works for you.
My OP is not about things we understand and can explain. Mechanical cleaning of organic food remnants to precent bacteria to grow and damage our gums and teeth, for example.

Why wouldn't proper flossing work for everyone?
And that is not "your truth" nor the definition of the word "truth."What is true to you, might not be true for somebody else. It’s about application of the ideas pertinent to your life. I’m not talking about life on Mars or if the speed of light is a constant or variable. It’s about what treatment to choose or which university program to pursue or weather to start a business or remain an employee etc.

There could be a million reasons. Because you might have a cancerous mole on your skin that will kill you with healthy teeth in 4 years. Or because your neighbours decide to shoot each other and the stray bullet hits your heart. Maybe you’re a careless driver and hit a bridge foundation to death. Etc
If we lived in a universe where dental hygiene determined health and happiness, yes.
Here in our existence it’s a very complex matter and no one can program their future by following other people’s programs.

How do such esoteric beliefs affect one's daily life? And, how does one act on such beliefs? I believe in honesty, hard work, and service to others. I can act on these beliefs and see the value thereof. Kinda like the guy who went about "proving" the oxen. He didn't have to prove that they were indeed 'oxen', but he wanted to know if they would perform as advertised. Many beliefs that people hold are unprovable and thus are really just opinions that have little value.

Poor dental hygiene is a global problem causing misery for millions of people. The importance of oral/dental health cannot be overstated.

Absolutely. Health and happiness is not a one size fit all solution, that’s all I’m saying. You can’t reduce a complex system to a simple component. You can’t say a human being is the teeth or the heart…
You can connect all the parts to the value of good dentistry. Without the ability to properly chew your food your entire body is at risk. It is said that most human dis-ease starts in the gut. However many of those problems are related to poor dentistry. Overall health demands proper digestion (regardless of what you eat). This begins in the mouth. Proper chewing prepares your food for proper digestion. Improper chewing = improper digestion = a multitude of health problems. This is a universal fact/truth. Sadly it is not a general 'belief'.
Yes, we must hold tightly on to the words of Christ and take action upon them in this life despite what others may say. People may try to bring us down in serving Christ and we may even bring ourselves down at times, but we must keep holding on tight to Christ’s words, the teachings of His followers, and ask for the Lord’s help to change us and to make us better in His image. For it is not I, but Christ. For to live is Christ and to die is gain. Less me, and more of Him. But we have to believe His Word. Most today do not even believe in a perfect Bible to trust in. But even when they may, they can hold to false unbiblical beliefs. Why? We truly are living in the last days. But we should not lose hope because things are darker, but we should hold out our hands in love towards all in showing the love of Christ and contend for the faith. Even when all turn away. Believe. Love. Hope. Trust in Christ and trust and act upon His words by faith. For we cannot believe in ourselves. We can only ask and trust in Christ to help us. To change us into being more like Him. For me: I want to live and breath God’s Word. Yes, sometimes life does get in the way, but I strive to do all things through Christ which strengthen me.
Truth is something that is a hardcore fact that is observable.
Yet, the Bible says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1).
The evidence of things not seen is the opposite of knowable observable facts (Which is truth). It’s not to say that there is not some realm of truth to the faith.
God’s Word (Which is where we derive our faith from) is based on many evidences.
So it’s a reasonable faith, but we cannot prove the existence of Heaven. That’s unseen. It’s not a known truth to anyone on this planet living right now because they have not experienced it with their own two eyes currently.
But we can have faith in God that Heaven exists because His Word talks about it.
We can trust God and what He said as true. That’s the most important thing here.
For there is a difference between what we believe is true as men, vs. what God’s Word (the Holy Bible) says. His Word is truth, and we trust and believe in it by faith. Faith in the unseen. For we have not seen God and yet we know He exists because He changed our lives and He communicate to us personally through His Word.
In other words, there is a difference between observable truth vs. what we believe to be true by faith. Both are not the same thing. We have to be careful not to take secular dictionaries too far. They are only helpful in that they can serve us to understand God’s Word. By no means are secular dictionaries infallible or correct. Words can change with the passage of time, and we have to be careful who is doing the writing. Men after all are fallen, and imperfect; But God’s Word (the Bible) is perfect and we can trust it 100%; For God cannot lie.
