No, not "right" for you, but "applies" to you.

This sloppy nomenclature will eventually destroy clear language.

Then how will we be able to write precise contracts?

Please don’t pick on individual words. I hope the general idea of my OP is clear. It’s your beliefs that shape your truth and affect your life. Not what other people convince you as being true

They don't "fit into," they govern, whether you want them to or not, because they are reality.

Somebody really sold you a bill of goods somewhere along the way.

You are not correct. A recipe for a chocolate cake works for all people, more or less. When we talk about outcomes of health treatment, or career choice, our beliefs seem to shape our truth.

You argue on a different subject from the OP

It’s about miraculous faith, as Jesus said “According to your faith be it done unto you”

Not always. As Jesus said, “According to your faith be it done unto you”. Life is too complex to fit into any particular truth

Sure, but "complexity" often equals confusion.

Take flossing for instance. There is a little plastic and string flossing tool that is widely marketed, which of course represents a different (complex?) way of flossing. However, this gadget is so poorly designed that it is not possible to properly floss one's teeth with it. The truth is that there is only one way to properly floss your teeth.

You didn’t understand my OP. There are things that are true in the sense that it’s how it works for some people. The truth I’m talking about is what works for you.

Until your beliefs come hard against the truth. Many then discard their erroneous beliefs, others don't. Many are held captive-against-their-will by long held cherished family beliefs, or disbeliefs.

My OP is not about things we understand and can explain. Mechanical cleaning of organic food remnants to precent bacteria to grow and damage our gums and teeth, for example.

It’s about things we don’t know about and don’t understand, such as Jesus healing the blind man.

Why wouldn't proper flossing work for everyone?

How do such esoteric beliefs affect one's daily life? And, how does one act on such beliefs? I believe in honesty, hard work, and service to others. I can act on these beliefs and see the value thereof. Kinda like the guy who went about "proving" the oxen. He didn't have to prove that they were indeed 'oxen', but he wanted to know if they would perform as advertised. Many beliefs that people hold are unprovable and thus are really just opinions that have little value.

There could be a million reasons. Because you might have a cancerous mole on your skin that will kill you with healthy teeth in 4 years. Or because your neighbours decide to shoot each other and the stray bullet hits your heart. Maybe you’re a careless driver and hit a bridge foundation to death. Etc

If we lived in a universe where dental hygiene determined health and happiness, yes.

Here in our existence it’s a very complex matter and no one can program their future by following other people’s programs.

Your beliefs shape your truth

As Jesus said, “According to your faith be it done unto you”

Your beliefs determine your outcomes

And that is not "your truth" nor the definition of the word "truth."
It's about precise language being necessary for a complex civilization, and the damage imprecise language can eventually do.

Poor dental hygiene is a global problem causing misery for millions of people. The importance of oral/dental health cannot be overstated. Sadly many believe that dental problems, and eventual loss of teeth, is inevitable.

Please don’t pick on individual words.
Communication is individual words.

Clear communication requires correct usage of words according to their definitions.
Clarity does not come with imprecision.

Do you have something vested in imprecise, unclear and loose speech?
It’s your beliefs that shape your truth and affect your life. Not what other people convince you as being true
Truth is not subjective, it is objective, it is not "mine" nor anyone else's.
It is objective reality.

To the degree that it is not objective reality, it is not truth.

Yes it’s all very good. What works for you though is determined by your beliefs.

Generic principles are good and wise, like treatment vs. no treatment. I’m not saying ditch all medical treatment whatsoever, it’s insane. So in the sense of hard truth there’s no conflict. It’s about aiding the process by holding to the faith that shapes your truth, which mobilizes your self-healing abilities and probably calls for God’s gracious intervention. Otherwise you’re stuck in fear and worrying and are just killing yourself

Absolutely. Health and happiness is not a one size fit all solution, that’s all I’m saying. You can’t reduce a complex system to a single component. You can’t say a human being is the teeth or the heart…

Please re-read my OP.

It’s about power of faith vs “truth” imposed by other people. The blind man healed by Jesus Christ probably heard all his life about being punished for sins of his parents and that there’s no cure.

Until one day Jesus walked by, and his faith made him see again

You can connect all the parts to the value of good dentistry. Without the ability to properly chew your food your entire body is at risk. It is said that most human dis-ease starts in the gut. However many of those problems are related to poor dentistry. Overall health demands proper digestion (regardless of what you eat). This begins in the mouth. Proper chewing prepares your food for proper digestion. Improper chewing = improper digestion = a multitude of health problems. This is a universal fact/truth. Sadly it is not a general 'belief'.

Yes, it’s true, all components in a complex system are interrelated. A butterfly flutter in Australia can cause a hurricane in the Caribbean… It doesn’t mean you can treat the whole body through a single organ though. If you have a serious heart disease, flossing won’t save your life. A heart surgery might.

Going back to the OP, it’s not about objective truth vs delusion.

I’m not saying ditch all treatment and sit on your hands. Do all the wise and reasonable and sane things, but have the beliefs that you chose for you, don’t accept the “truths” imposed by others around you.

In my case, what I figured so far is that believing in the potential of your body, that there’s a purpose for you and to have a passion for life is what really matters. Not so much a particular kind of treatment you choose, whatever it is.

I haven’t discovered smth new here, it’s what many people both in faith and healthcare have been saying

A bigger picture

I totally agree with you. It’s very hard in reality, as many people will try to push you down or resist your choices

Yes I completely agree. I don’t aim at high truths here in this thread. It’s too big of a question.

I’m looking at a narrow angle at how to defeat disease or maybe choose a career or bring up children or approach other important decisions in life
