Do a lot of other people on this site have the experience where they make a thread about any topic, could be the most mundane little thing, and almost immediately someone else comes along looking to pick a fight or raise some type of grievance for any old reason? How do people deal with this, I've heard of an "IGNORE" option, how does that work?

Yes I've found that to b true. Haven't used the ignore button yet but think I'm fixin to. It's on your account, just tap on ur avatar at top of page to pull up ur account. The button is on there. Gonna try it and see how it works

I don't know how strict the mods are here but I also think it would be a good idea to report posts that come off rude. I have seen posts that are condescending and snarky. The person doesn't have anything useful to share, they just want to get at someone. I don't think that kind of behavior should be allowed in the forum. Maybe if a person gets reported enough it will get the mods attention and they may choose to ban that person.

Also, there are certain rules here. If one is considered to have "flaming" or provoking remarks or insults, see the little anchor with an exclamation mark in it to the bottom left. Click on that to report offensive comments. The mods like you to help them keep things civil and will remove the post if they agree that it breaks the forum rules.

There are some threads that simply are not Christian or or not informative concerning scripture. One example is the thread introducing and supporting the flat-earth point of view. I think it is hilarious. To even give it a moment's consideration is a waste of time. However, I do try to inject humor from time-to-time. It usually doesn't work, or posters take me seriously. I've decided to just avoid what I refer to as nonsense.

I try not to use the ignore button unless I feel someone is purposely coming to my topics/posts just to say something annoying because they dislike me. That aside its a christian forum, so even amongst christians people are going to disagree with each other. And since the amount of people has shrunk since the big update to the site, many of us come tot he same section and don't have a ton to reply to.

It seems that the comments are right on the edge of being goading and they are not one person, it's different people who will come & nip at my heels hoping for a response of negativity. It's ridiculous, really. I try to respond respectfully yet they keep pushing so then I give up. I'm trying the Ignore feature now, but I wonder just how many of them I will have to use that on.

If someone is goading you and they seem to be doing it everywhere you go, theres a "report" button at the bottom of each post. Report them and mention they are doing it to you in other topics too. The rules (at least when I joined) said they will give people warnings and after awhile people will get banned.

It depends on the topic and ogcourse how you deal with people. Those who troll are looking for a responce. If that responce is not given them then they will soon move on. Thet are not here for a conversation. They are looking for a thrill.

I pity those who do these things, but if their choice is to push people away, then they will do that.

I agree. Some are here to get strange kicks out of being obnoxious. Per a Dr. Amen, a psychiatrist who has done 10s of thousands of brain scans, this is a symptom of a particular kind of attention deficit syndrome where - not all A.D.D.ers are like that at all - there is such a low brain wave pattern in one area of the brain that such folk seek stimulation through getting others upset.

Some people get on here who have a grudge against Christians, it seems to me, though they may present themselves as being Christian. I suspect that the flat earthers, mentioned in a post above, are not Christians at all but people who are trying to make Christians look ridiculous. Have you ever met a sincere Christian who believed in a flat earth?

Back to reporting posts - From my experience the mods do a good job of getting rid of offensive posts. Sometimes it happens right away, sometimes in a few days. If they don't agree with you, they simply don't reply. If they do, the post disappears without a reply to you.

Yes, sadly, there are hateful people who pop up everywhere.
I have two on permanent ignore, I hate to have to use the ignore button but when someone results to namecalling, bashing and looking to pick fights with everything I post, I have no choice.
And I do not do that to others.
One loves to get my posts removed. Last year I posted about how this one particular non-Christian leader always seemed to make reference the Jesus (in a good way) and even mentioned Jesus as the Apex of all that God is. She had that one removed because the source was not the Bible, although the content(which some people lack the intelligence to understand) clearly was above anything she ever posted. Sad.

I would encourage you to report anyone who is being hateful. I'm sure the moderators would appreciate it. They aren't always completely aware of what's going on.

I've used it on several people. If you go to defend creation science on the creation/evolution forum, using detailed science and good logic mind you, you can count on it that you will get insulted and called names before long. Also, the Darwin devotees often take pot shots at Christians and Christianity in ways that cause them to have posts removed.

Just ignore and don't reply. Even responding by report will give them rise to the occasions(unless of course way out of line). Many of us have been assaulted by what I like to refer to as "howling" of others. It is a guarantee that as true believers in a source that supports true believers faith there will arrive those dressed in fine apparel or sheep's clothing so to speak full of blindness and encampment of the enemy; not to mention ungodly or unholy assaults for discouragement, wicked schemes and other deeds that attempt to spoil for the purpose of deception and corruption..

True believers will be targeted and persecuted. It happens to many of us and has happened throughout history, either directly or indirectly to those righteous and those on the true path by the grace of GOD through his son JESUS.

Per mod feedback I have gotten, they want you to report violations of the rules. They don't have time to "ride the range" all the time and check for violations. They want the site to be civil and respectful to others. This place is not designed to be a safe place for trolls. As believers we are not called to be doormats. Yes, sometimes we are called to suffer for Messiah, but that is if and as HE directs.
