Being moderate

I wonder if being moderate is not really taking a stand. I consider myself moderate, and not conservative or liberal. But other people are saying that's not really taking a stand.

I consider myself a moderate. That doesn't mean I don't take a stand. People may consider it flip-flopping, but my position depends on the issue. I think that I'm fiscally conservative (low taxes and debt, high investment, free market, deregulation, etc.) and socially liberal (with one or two exceptions like homosexuality). Peace in Christ .

Being compassionate and considerate of others, and looking to find the good and hoping for their growth towards Christ should be what being Conservative means. Unfortunately, we live in a "Revolutionary" age where everyone thinks they have to be in each other's faces (in a take it or leave it fashion) over those things they're displeased about.

So, being what it is, I guess I'm "moderate," too. There are times to let people know that they need to "think again." But, this should end with a hug at some point, at least most of the time.

Right, but for Christ Himself, the Status Quo is not to be looking for opportunities to rain fire from heaven down on people ... ... even if occasionally we do have to get a little "prophetic" on some issues.

I too consider myself a moderate, but have drifted farther ‘right of center’ over the last 10 years. My fiscal and social conservatism run about equally because I see excess spending in both categories as threatening drains on the over-all well-being of the U.S.
