  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hey guys, I have another prayer request.

I'm in a state in a state of mortal sin and confession isn't available until Thursday and, I just really need your prayers.

Being in a state of mortal sin really sucks! I don't know if it's the loss of grace or just the loss of peace, but I'm really struggling, and I just, can't think straight.

Please pray that I make it to confession on Thursday confess my sins well with perfect contrition and, in the meantime, I focus on God and develop a filial fear of Him.

Saul the pharisee was in a continuous state of what you term mortal sin. He discovered how to get out of it.
He died to a righteousness of observing the law and lived by a righteousness of faith in Christ.
Am I allowed to state that here? Don't want to break cf rules

No, because implying that we're not Christians because we reject the "once saved always saved" fallacy goes against the rules of not measure other people's or groups faith as well as violating the rule not to teach contrary to the faith of a safehaven.

God bless

I didn't mention once saved always saved, only stated what Paul repeatedly wrote. He died to a righteousness of observing the law.
I will pass no further comment as what I did write appears to have caused offence
My apologies

I'll pray for you.

In honesty, this feeling is what broke my church founder, for better or worse.

I'd say that though we're instructed to confess our sins in the sacrament Christ's mercy is not bound to the confessional exclusively.

Yes, we shall go to confession, it's a obligation for us. Yet it's not so for Christ.

Never give up on Christ's mercy cause it exceeds the human mind and he can circumvent the rules we're bound by if he see it fit.

It depends on what you are trying to say. If you are trying to say Catholics need to become Protestant to be saved, you are way out of order here. If you are suggesting that the OP needs a conversion experience like Saul of Tarsus on the road to Damascus, I think you might need to learn more about the original poster first. I presume you are trying ever so hard to be helpful, but it didn't work. Learn something about Catholic teaching and then someone here can sponsor you when you enter the Catholic Church. For access to that Catholic teaching, here is a link to the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Catechism of the Catholic Church

It is indeed the worst thing to have the Lord's Spirit desert you due to sin. I empathise with you, brother. :(

One may be in mortal sin (not saying that OP are) but one still has the Holy Ghost with ones heart.
How else is it possible to repent and seek confession?
That is the work of the Spirit of God.

Oh, no. :(

When I say deserted, I mean when you /feel/ deserted, spiritually weak, without God's peace, etc after committing some sin(s)

I accidentally used strange language to refer to it, my apologies. :)

Just a gentle reminder to posters on this thread :-

The opening post was <<Hey guys, I have another prayer request.

This is a request for prayers - not a discussion about how to ask forgiveness - and from whom - a request for prayers .

Please respect the wishes of the original poster

Prayers for your intentions. Remember you can say an act of contrition prayer beforehand. God knows your heart.
