I need some encouragement and prayers to be more honest with people. I don't believe in holloween, Disney, Christmas trees, catholic religion, easter eggs, and other stuff that I found has demonic background. What I mean more specifically if that people will talk about these things and how much they love them to me and I feel pressured to agree with them even though I don't just so I don't look rude. It is driving me crazy how cowardly I am and I AM disobeying God. I just want to be honest when they bring it up. I hope posting this on the Baptist forum will help me to find people more like me...

I agree...most "christian" holidays have no authentic backing and that bothers me as well. I think why youre struggling with is an ability to tactfully have a discussion around these things. That problem may be a result of fear. All you have to do is be able to say that while those things are fun (honestly, I think you and I would agree that getting together with family, dressing up and going to a party are fun), but that because of your beliefs you don't hold any strong regard for them. There is no problem with empathizing with others who dont agree with your views as long as you are willing to express your differing opinion as well.

When someone brings up one of these topics, what's your FIRST thought?

Dear Faithfulandtrue. I agree with what you say, sometimes it is hard to know whether to agree to an untruth, or speak up and tell the truth. For me there are two ways, I tell the truth with loving and kind words, or I say nothing and soon after I ask God to forgive me, and always tell the true reason why I did not speak up when I should have done. It is between you and God and it is always better to stick to the truth, but we must always remember to speak lovingly. I say this with love. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.

Dear Faithfulandtrue. I read your question again, and I did not see the bit about agreeing with things of a Demonic background at first. May I here tell you with absolute truth, that I NEVER would agree with anything which is against God or Jesus. I say this with love, Faithfulandtrue. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.

You probably just need to chill, and I'm saying that in a Christian way.

I don't believe in any of those things either. It's not particularly a matter of whether they are demonic in orgin (although we could probably argue that every practice of celebration not specifically designated by Jesus is demonic in some way).

It's more a matter of how much we as Christians are dedicating ourselves to practices that are not beneficial or edifying to us as Christians to become better Christians, or to the Body of Christ, or to the mission to make disciples of all nations.

When and how your greater knowledge and freedom on such issues presents a battle worth fighting depends on the circumstances. Sometimes it's a hill you must stand your ground on, sometimes it's not. Let the Holy Spirit guide you. Don't start charging up hills without His command.
