  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

God's commission to humanity is to be fruitful and multiply. I think we can agree on what it means to multiply, but what does it mean to be fruitful? What does it mean to flourish and thrive? How do I know whether or not I'm flourishing or withering? What is humanity supposed to be?

So we should get nailed to crosses? Or am I being too literal?

The more literal you take something, the less authority you have.

If you did exactly, and I mean exactly what Jesus did, people would say they liked the original better.

A failed apocalyptic prophet? (Mark 13:30)

What Jesus says transcends time.

For example, John the Baptist is the old testament prophet Elijah, to Jesus.

So what He is saying is, you will have people like Pilate and the Pharisees in your life for as long as it takes for these scriptures to take place.

So far, He's been right.

Oh now come on, that's a little bit convenient don't you think? The cross is literally metaphoric when I want to be a Christian philosopher and metaphorically literal when you want to ridicule my faith...

...a cheap shot would be "he already does" (take it literally)...

...but instead you twist my words to mean, I recommend a piece of wood for your philosophical cross.

I mean that is just beyond the pale...

I'm sorry? You talked about the Christian philosopher wanting to die and went on in the thread to say people should hate their lives. Your view seemed pretty clear.

No, I mean failed, as in what was written did not happen.

it must be worked for good and non-evil humankind so that all humans to become kind/merciful/righteous without infliction of harm against any human insomuch all they to have thus abundant life till the end of the eternity

1 Timothy 2:1-10 "I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks(i.e. of blessings), be made for all men(i.e. for all humans); For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty(i.e. in all goodness and earnestness). For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men(i.e. all humans/souls) to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth(i.e. and to become good/righteous). For there is one God, and one mediator(also: and one Lord) between God and men, the man(i.e. the ensouled being) Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not; ) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity. I will therefore that men(i.e. that the male believers) pray every where, lifting up holy hands(i.e. entirely expressing/manifesting love/goodness), without wrath(i.e. without hostility/aggression) and doubting(i.e. and dramatization/stir/intrigues/strife). In like manner also, that women(i.e. that female believers) adorn themselves in modest apparel(i.e. in humility), with shamefacedness(i.e. with meekness) and sobriety(i.e. and sedation/sanity); not with broided hair(i.e. not with highminding), or gold(i.e. or vainglory), or pearls(i.e. or wisdom), or costly array(i.e. or elevation); But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works."

Blessings

Not necessarily crucifixion, just any kind of death. Again, I don't know what other way I was to take your post.

That's just it, as a believer I have no concept of suffering!

I want to die, but I don't know how...

You have twisted it to mean I want to copy Jesus like a robot!

No, I mean failed, as in what was written did not happen.

He rose again on the third day.

Your blanket assertions are false.

Moreover, you are presuming to know the dates of when they were to be fulfilled.

If Jesus didn't provide those dates... ah look try arguing they are not inevitable, if you are going to look for an argument...

An unsubstantiated assertion.

I read the text literally.
If Jesus didn't provide those dates... ah look try arguing they are not inevitable, if you are going to look for an argument...
The timing is in the text. It did not happen as written.

Are you trying to add to the words there in the bible to justify your assertions?
