  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi everyone... Next year I am going to become a foster parent, and since this is the "mature singles forum" I thought I would ask you all if you ever considered becoming a foster parent. Foster parents are desparately needed, and if you have a bedroom open in your home...maybe you would at least consider it. Lets here your thoughts on Foster Parents and being single.

That's wonderful that you've decided to become a foster parent. I'll be praying for you.

Initially, I've never considered becoming one and really up until recently, I've never really thought about adoption either. Now, I would like to adopt a child, but because I'm single, I really don't feel I could give a child the love and attention that he/she needs (because of my job).

If I were to adopt (or even become a foster parent) I need to give him/her extra time and attention - which I don't feel like I could adequately give right now because of working full-time.

For example, when I have to work overtime, who will be there for him/her? Or when I have to travel out of town? If I had a spouse, this wouldn't be an issue, but I don't so these are things I have to consider.

Maybe one day though... :)

I've thought of doing this....actually seriously considered it a few years ago. Right now I'm settling into a new life and catching up with myself. I struggle with wanting a family...but don't know if I'm ready to adopt or even take in foster children as a single person.

God bless you for being a foster parent! Many prayers coming your way.
