I have personally came to the realization in my life, awhile back that God wants me to have a beard. I don't like having a beard, but I wear one. Not my will, but Yours be done. Does anyone else feel this way?

I got my beard becausec on a family holiday I could not get near the bathroom to shave. Showers were ok just unable to shave.
So I grew a beard. As like it I've kept it.

The OT commands about news do it apply t us, if they d have you been circumcised?

I stopped shaving because I wasn't good at shaving. After a further 10 years, I could clip it fairly well.

Aren't there areas where we can do what we like, leeway to choose which of a gamut of fashions to follow?
I would think so, for me however goes a lot deeper. I never wore a beard my whole life. Then I came to the realization that God wants me grow one. Otherwise why would my hair grow.

I think is a personal choice. I just want to know God better, do things that He likes.

Personal choice for what, a beard or circumcisions?

Ultimately it is how we live our lives, not whether we cut our air, eat certain food or do rituals.
It is the practical doing of good as an outworking of our faith that matters.

No. It's a personal choice. If you can find anywhere in the Bible where it mandates having a beard, let me know and I may change my mind.

The veil was torn at the cross, in Christ we are free indeed. What He wants for us is to fully mature spiritually in Christ Jesus not traditions. You can't mature fully in Christ while walking with one foot stuck in the mud of the old covenant . Sometimes thinking this or that is what God wants for us is purely our imagination. Not that there is anything wrong with a beard, it's the intent.

All that said I have a beard, grew it in 1973 and it's never been removed though pretty well groomed. I don't care about the beard, it's certainly nothing spiritual but the wife likes it a lot so I keep it. She trims it lol ( x hair dresser) !!

Well, I don't see anything in the Word of how we must have a beard. I do like my goatee because I have a baby face and I always want to be extra macho looking. While it does not appear to be a commandment, the only thing with hair is that the NT Scriptures suggests that is good to have short hair on one's head for men, and longer hair for women (1 Corinthians 11:14-15).

I think Paul says he becomes a Jew so as to win the Jews. This does not mean he converts to Judaism, but it could mean that he may look and act like them a little, and speak like them and talk from their perspective so as to win them over for Christ. It could simply mean just words alone, too. But Paul was passionate for winning people for Christ.

Don't you think faith in God can have physical implications. I am not talking about laws or traditions. I am talking about knowing God like my family, neighbors, and co workers. Finding out what pleases Him. I don't have a foot in anything you totally miss understand my post. I am talking about a personal relationship between me and God.

Ditto. Don't like my beard. YHWH gave me a beard.

I am not sure God deals differently with one person vs. another person on this matter. God is not a respecter of persons.

While I believe we are not under the 613 Laws of Moses (as a package deal), I believe there are some things in the Old Law that still apply today (that is not clearly mentioned in the NT) like:

Not to tattoo the skin—Leviticus 19:28
Men must not wear women's clothing—Deuteronomy 22:5
etc.

Ultimately I look to the New Covenant to follow the Lord.
For the Law came by Moses, and grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

Good point, I know God is not respecter of persons. Does God deal with people differently to show His will to them?

THe Bible is the standard by which to follow God's will. But there are different functions or members in the body of Christ. I do recall in Acts when the apostles asked to delegate certain matters to other believers so that they could preach the Word. I believe all should preach the Word, and all should help the poor, love their brother, but there are varying degrees of that for believers. But one can have a speciality or particular focus that shines. Different functions in the body. Different body parts of the body of Christ. The hand cannot say that do not have any need of the foot, etc.
