Be Holy? What?!?!

I have read this numerous times and since I have seen how you greatly help me understand scripture I decided to see what you all thought.

1Pe 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Is it possible to be holy? The following verse indicates that only God and Jesus can be holy.

Psa 99:5 Exalt ye the LORD our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.

Holiness is not an option. Therefore God must make it possible for us to be Holy.
And He does.

This is a big subject to explore but the fact that you are asking means the Holy Spirit is ready to take you on a journey.

And before you go on the journey you get yourself ready.

Have you ever fasted? If not, you will benefit greatly if you do this before you begin. If you are nervous to try, tell me and I will fast with you. It doesn't have to be Gargantuan. (huge)

Just correct - in order to approach His holiness at the throne with the right understanding.

It's so funny you mentioned fasting. I have been reading up alot on it because I once felt the holy sprit so strongly (like when i was first saved and a time i spoke in tongues) I discovered there were different reasons for fasting but all are for spiritual gain. I have never fasted but I would like to. That would be great if you could do it with me in case I had some questions while fasting. I have lately these past few months hungered for more of God. Just to feel His presence so strongly and be zealous for him. I appreciate your post and I know that your post was God inspired because I was just reading about Fasting. . . . INCREDIBLE! PRAISE GOD

THAT IS A QUESTION I HAVE HAD IN THE PAST TOO. I ASKED THE LORD TO REVEAL THIS TO ME. HOLYNESS IS BY FAITH, NOT BY SIGHT. SO IF GOD CALLS YOU HOLY BY HIS SON, DO YOU BELIEVE THIS OR DO YOU GO ON WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT YOURSELF AND SIN?

I THINK YOUR FAST AND SEEKING WILL BE GOOD. IT WON'T MAKE YOU HOLY, BUT IT WILL HUMBLE YOU. ONLY GOD MAKES US HOLY.

We are sinless in God's eyes, (holy), not by any works of our own, but by the blood of Christ. Christ is our Ombudsman, our Representative, and our Mediator to God. We are forgiven...we are blameless... and in that sense, we are holy.

So what does it mean to be "holy". To me it means living in accordance with Gods word, or simply doing the right thing. Perhaps it could be defined as living in agreement with God.

According to the Greek & Hebrew definition, it means set apart or dedicated to God. Pure & Blameless.

And is only achieved by faith.

Is it possible to be holy? All things are possible. For "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" and "Whosoever has the faith the size of a mustard seed and says to this mountain, 'go, throw yourself into the sea' and does not doubt in his heart but believes it will be, it will be done for him".
Is it in our nature? No. The Bible says that none are righteous. But let me tell you something.
Never has there been such a holy human being as Jesus Christ. He is holy. He IS Holiness. And we are heirs to Christ. All things that belong to Him also belong to us. Jesus has opened the door to holiness. See, the problem with the church is that it's put too much emphasis on US and what WE have to do. But it's not about you! And that kind of thinking is SELFISH. That kind of thinking gives glory to man, and that's not where it's supposed to be. See Luke 15:3-7. You were lost, and God searched for you. You didn't want to follow Him and so He had to carry you on His shoulders. In other words, you didn't do anything to get saved. See the Ephesians verse "It is by grace that you have been saved. That is a gift of God so that no one can boast." If there's nothing you can do to become saved, there's nothing you can do to lose it. And all works are of the Holy Spirit and not of yourselves, so is holiness of the Holy Spirit and His work in you. It is through testing you are refined, set apart. Through the pursuit of God. <3
