  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

ETERNAL LIFE

When the Bible speaks of the promises of the good news, it most commonly uses the term "Eternal Life".

Joh 6:40
"For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day."

Ro 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

The term "eternal life" encompasses a great many promises of salvation. For example it includes the promise of the resurrection from the dead. It includes the promise of sanctification - freedom from sin. And Jesus also speaks of eternal life including a relationship with himself and God the Father.

John 17:3
"And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent."

So when we speak to people about the promise of eternal life, we should make it clear that it means more than just existing forever. Everyone exists forever. But some will exist in a state of eternal death suffering in the lake of fire separated from God, but others in a state of eternal life, in fellowship with God, free from sin and condemnation.
