Hey,

I saw this on another forum

Bosnian Serb jailed for 15 years
A Bosnian Serb former policeman has been sentenced to 15 years in jail by the UN war crimes tribunal for the rape and torture of Bosnian Muslim women.

Dragan Zelenovic, 46, pleaded guilty to the crimes, which took place during the 1992-1995 war in the former Yugoslavia.

In exchange for the plea, prosecutors at The Hague war crimes tribunal agreed to drop another seven charges.

Zelenovic showed no emotion, sitting with his head bowed and eyes closed as the presiding judge read out a summary of his crimes before passing sentence.

One of the women was just 15 when she was illegally imprisoned and gang-raped. Another had a gun held to her head while she was raped, the court heard.

At the same time I was researching the murder of that Iraqi girl and reading about Jessica Lunsford on the news.

Really bad timing - anyway - I get infuriated reading about war criminals and their ilk who skip off with 15 year sentences from our civilized neighbors in Europe because they're too good for the Death Penalty. It's about as maddening as criminals here in the states getting jail sentences that are commuted down by lefty hug the world judges.

Sometimes it makes me - seriously - consider running off and finding some of these people to introduce them to the bottom of a swamp. Just as a heat of the moment kind of thing... except a little longer.

It's maddening, you see them wimpering and crying about how much their lives suck since they've been caught, meanwhile they've raped a 15 year old girl with a gun to her head. 15 years for that?!

Anybody else get like that? Just as a little opinion poll would you object to all in out vigilantism directed at folks like the above? When justice has completely failed?

(and no I'm not going to do anything)

Even rapists here in America don't receive the death penalty, so why should rapists in Europe? Skipping off with 15 years doesn't sound much like skipping. Who knows, maybe this guy will find out what rape is, at one or more times, in those 15 years.

Violence begets more violence. As Christians, we should avoid this type of behavior.

This is not what the article said. You combined two different stories, although it doesn't make either attack any better.

no, and justice did not completely fail. The man was sentenced to 15 years.

Then why write that you want to?

Batman wouldn't do that.

Exactly. BAtman is not the kind of "vigilante" you want here. Batman just catches people and turns them over to the police. He's much more a deputy than a vigilante, and is actually part of the OP's problem.

Better hope the Bat doesn't get to your man before you do...

And doesn't Batman have this whole big thing against killing people and using guns (expcet maybe the very early Batman)?

Yeah, those ice-hearted hypocritical Europeans make me sick. They won't kill a brutal killer becasue "all human life is intrisically valuable and the DP is barbaric and cruel" or some such hogwash, but they are still ok with shooting, blowing up, and burning people, and not really caring how long or painful the death is, for the heinous act of wearing the wrong insignia on their sleeve.

And the American death penalty isn't a whole lot better. They go out of their way to give like brutal rapist-murderers a more pleasent death than pertty much anybody who dies awake will get, say from a heart attack.

The only reason they don't just shoot them or hang them or something is squeamishness.

 right on, they should execute rapists too.

I see nothing wrong with vigilante justice in circumstances like this.

I once heard O'Reilly of The Factor say that he was against the death penalty because he doesn't think killing certain criminals is enough punishment and that they should suffer more.

Not that I'm agreeing with him or anything...

But for the christian among us, even if there is no earthly justice there's still a little thing called God's vengence.

Of course it would be nicer if unpleasant folk were made incapable of repeating while in the present life.

***

Hard question because christianity is a hard religion:

If this guy, through the grace of God, becomes a true believer and repents of his sins (no one is righteous in God's eyes, after all), declaring that Jesus Christ is risen Lord and Savior...

Would you embrace him as a brother?

Perhaps we ought to thank God he is more merciful than we are...
