  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Angelus Press is run by the SSPX. Hence, I'd not be inclined to give them my money.

While I'm inclined to agree with you on this Bill, would anyone hesitate to buy a book or product from Thomas Nelson publishing, or any other Protestant run enterprise?

I don't think that's the relevant comparison. A Protestant publishing house, assuming that it's not publishing explicitly anti-Catholic material (and no, I would not support one that did), isn't using its money to subvert the authority of the Catholic Church. A more relevant comparison would be buying material where I knew that the money would be going to support some group like Call to Action -- which I'm not inclined to do either.

But Protestantism, by its existence, denies the authority of the Church. The SSPX's 1962 Missal does not.

And the SSPX claims to support the authority of the Church, but by its actions, does not, thereby sowing confusion among the faithful.

My argument is not with the 1962 Missal, but with the SSPX. If one can buy the missal without supporting them, then it seems like the right thing to do.

Yes, I will probably get the Baronius.

And I can't wait until their English - Latin Breviary comes out.

I see that the Foreword and Imprimatur are from the Most Reverend Fabian W. Bruskewitz, STD, Bishop of Lincoln. THAT's good enough for me. I'll keep it right next to my 1945 St. Andrew Daily.

Did you see the little sneak-peek I found of their Breviary? I posted it in another thread...I'm about 95% sure it's from them...

Yes, that was the first time I heard of Baronius, I'm going to have to find that thread again.
