  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am a new Christian, for the second time. When I was a Christian before and baptized it was in a Baptist church. Since I fell away from the Lord, does this mean I am not Baptist now? I do not attend at church yet, as I accepted Christ as my savior just yesterday here at CF. Just trying now to figure out where I stand and where to go from here.

Don't worry about being a Baptist. It is irrelavant to salvation. You accepted Christ as your savior, you are a born again Christian and have eternal life in heaven. Being a baptist just means yopu are a member of or attend a church of the Baptist denomination. YOU ARE FINE GIRL! :)

Dianna,

I read your testimony, praise God!
It's not important to be a baptist, your salvation is secure, but it is important to seek and find fellowship with other believers. God gave you gifts, those gifts fit somewhere in a local church. Have you started looking for a local church? This can be a journey all in itself so don't get discouraged. Also come back to this forum and let us know how you are doing.

Mike, I have not started looking for a church yet. Trying to decide what church to look for. When I think of church I automaticly think of Baptist church. So I guess that is the direction I should. Plan on doing some searches online here in a bit to see if that helps me out at all.

Sounds like the Lord is at work, if Baptist is on your mind then look for local Baptist churches.
Another suggestion: New Christians need discipleship. If I were a new Christian I would look for a church that has discipleship training, could be small groups, could be a Sunday school class but this is very important.
I personally can fellowship with most Christian denominations but since you are in this forum asking I will give you some additional suggestions about denominations.
I believe the bible, any church I attend must use the bible as it's only source of truth.
I believe that God saved me, He called me to him and I responded, He will never let me go. I believe He saved me for a purpose, He didn't just take my right to heaven once I responded. Any church I attend must believe that I am eternal secure in my salvation. They must believe that through growth my special set of gifts has a purpose in ministry.
Look for those things.
Keep us informed.
BTW, I am southern Baptist

Thank you Mike for sharing this all with me. You I think I am setting myself up for a hard time, because I have the picture of what my old church was, and want that again, and do not want to be disapointed if I can't find one similar to it.

Those are great things to keep in mind when looking for a church, thank you Mike.

You will find it, it's a journey. And don't forget to enjoy the journey. Being a Christian is a journey, it's not a destination. Life with Jesus is fun. You will find the right church and enjoy the search because you are spending time with the One that saved you.

Once saved always saved, falling away for a while doesn't change that. Not attending church doesn't change that. You were and are a Christian, so go out and find a church that inspires you to live like Christ and be happy in knowing that God takes you back every time you stray, no matter what. Plus, he doesn't only take you back, he searches you out like a shepherd searches for a lost sheep and brings you back into the fold himself. You may think that God didn't notice you were gone, but he was out there calling you and calling you to come back to be with him again. :) Now he's thrilled you came back.

Thank you. It is so wonderful to be with the Lord again, I am so glad he was calling me. Nice to know he doesn't give up.

Hi Diana!

:)

Welcome back to the fold (wherever you choose to end up)!!!

I wrote this little joke for you:
***************************************************************
Check the bottom of your left foot - your denomination should be written there. See, though - the angels made a bit of a mistake & used non-permanent ink - unfortunately, it washes off during baptism. For anybody else, though, it's clearly written there... "Catholic" "Lutheran"....etc.... So, if your foot doesn't say anything,
*grin* you must be a baptist!

I will pray that you will find the right church that will meet your spiritual needs. Baptist churches are very good and biblically based.

In your sig tag you say you are a fundamentalist(sp?) Could you explain a bit about what that means. A few of the churches I have been looking at are the same.

Fundamentalists believe in the infallible and literal truth of the Bible.

This link (taken from the sticky posted in the fundamental churches forum) explains it very well.
