Hello my Catholic friends!

I have a quick question if you don't mind answering. Some friends of ours who are Catholic are having their daughter baptized this weekend. Just curious if gifts are common and if so, what is a good gift? It is a baby girl that is being baptized.

thanks!!!

Depends. For my daughters baptism we got:

  • Some people gave 5-20$ for her college fund or things we needed
  • Religious items (usually a Catholic gifts shop has a selection)
  • Clothes (some little outfits suited for the coming summer at the time)
  • Diapers
  • gift cards to stores that are useful for a wide range of things (Target and such)
It really is not all that different from what for a baby shower except not usually big stuff (high chairs). You can go personal and get a memento or keepsake that highlights the occasion or go practical and do something like: "I know they need ..." insert need.

Gifts are not required but are often given. It actually is fairly wide open. Any gift given in love will be appreciated.
