  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This was originally a story i was doing for coursework in school, but i've now begun to modify it and this is what i have so far. I'll post the rest as i get it done.

Bane

It was a dark, wet night. The rain slapped heavily on the broken cobblestones of the old street. What light there was, was quickly swallowed by the murk, and did not spread far from its source, leaving most of the wide, dirty street in inky blackness.

From the end of the street came the sound of hurried footsteps. A young woman approached the darkened alley, wrapped against the bitter cold and torrential rain, head down as she battled her way along the deserted street. The clatter of a bin rang suddenly discordantly from the alley, shattering the night air. The woman's pace faltered. Stopped. A deathly silence filled the air. She peered intently into the murk that was the alley, searching the shadows for the source of the sound. A fleeting movement caught her eye, causing a shiver to crawl down her spine. Wrapping her coat tighter around her, she made to move on, but another clatter rent the air, echoing in the gloom. Spinning quickly, she looked again, fearfully into the hellish alley. It seemed to darken under her gaze, like a black hole sucking in the light. But suddenly two stars exploded in its centre. A looming monster moved threateningly in the shadows towards her, its eyes gleaming whitely in the darkness. She backed away screaming, and a light came on in a nearby house. The woman ran shrieking down the street, her scarf forgotten at the mouth of the alley.

From the darkness, crept the monster, its apparent size diminishing as it came further into the light. It lifted the scarf, clasping it to its chest, and as it looked up, its face was not that of a beast, but a little girl, no more than nine. Horribly scarred and disfigured, her dark hair matted, she hardly fitted the description of a human; but was human all the same. Her name was Bane. Scrambling back into the alley, she stared down at her prize, and then loped silently through the shadows towards home.

Thats all i have so far...
