  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I don't play; I only wish I could. There is a gentleman at our church who, every summer, plays one Sunday. He dresses in full regalia (complete with dagger in sock...don't know the official word for it) and he is WONDERFUL! My daughters love it, especially knowing that they are part Scottish (my husband is a distant member of the clan Mackenzie).

Good stuff. I have a set of gibosn firesides and a set of firewood. Started on my dads graingers. Believe it or not the mid east firewood that I have has a good tone out of the drones- my dad put in alot of work on the inside of them, played them the first and last time I marched with the band I was in. The PM was surprised. The chanter was another matter,I plugged it and just droned. Working on getting a set of Dunbar P1's. Until then I play on the firesides, the wife doesn't complain much with them.
How long have you been piping?

Yeh the paki pipes are mostly crap but you can sometimes get lucky, not worth the money to take the chance though. I was in the triad highlanders. I only played with the band one time then had to quit due to time, work got in the way of the fun. great bnd and great bunch of guys to play with, made up of jamestown p&d and some of Deep River p&d and a couple solo pipers joined up. I hated to quit but I felt like I was letting bob and the band down by missing practice and a few shows, but the job I had at the time had made overtime mandatory and I couldn't get there in time.
Funny part is i got laid off 2 months later so now I woodshed while watching my daughter-future piper in training, 5 months old and already looks for the pipes when she heres me playing a cd, then starts bouncing
