  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This week at daily mass the Euacharist was contaminated with some sort or horrible smelly and disgusting tasting lotion. The priest must have had it on his hands.

I will not go up for Communion if this priest ever does the mass again. YUK!

This was a first for me - has anyone else ever encountered something like this?

YUM... :yum:

Maybe the priest has some sort of dry skin condition and you should call him and ask he not use it before Mass again. :)

Telling him the taste was on the Host might help him to be considerate.

Maybe he didnt realise it.

I think the poor guy would be awfully embarrassed if I spoke to him about it. He did have several surgical bandages on his hands so maybe it was some sort of medical lotion. He is retired and was just filling in so maybe we will not see him too often.

Look how much Jesus suffered for us--- I think a little bit of not so nice tasting Eucharist wouldn't hurt us at all. I would mention to your normal priest about the situation. It's not something to be embarrassed about, but if you didn't know what was on his hands and you ended up being allergic and/or poisoned by the substance then there would be a huge issue. So for health reasons it would be good to mention it :)

When I lived in another state, we all used to take turns baking the Eucharistic bread.

The recipe was similar to this:

http://www.sttims.org/worship/bread_print.shtml

I know it wouldn't be practical for large churches, but it was really wonderful, and a wonderful ministry to be able to bake the Eucharistic bread.

My daughter, who made her Communion there, was really upset when we moved and she had to partake of the little round wafers that she thought tasted like cardboard.

Gulp

That isn't the recipe for eucharistic bread, is it?

I thought it was supposed to be for the Roman Rite

Water
Wheat

And for the Eastern Rite

Water
Wheat
Yeast
Salt

NOTHING ELSE of the matter was invalid. Are the two recipes I have given above the correct ones?

And geocajun, This is an honest question.
