Bad doctrine: Exposed #1
Bad doctrine: Exposed #1
I recently was wandering around online on a Christian rap message board, when I found a post so doctrinally incorrect, I absolutely had to critique it. It is in regards to rumors about the rapper Eminem becoming a Christian, so that is the context. The words of the person I am quoting will be in bold italics and centered. Here goes:
“You people are blind at times.
If Eminem did give his heart to God, then we won’t
ever know. Why?”
If Eminem did give his heart to God, then we won’t
ever know. Why?”
Why? I am excited to hear why if someone becomes a Christian we will never know…
“Because a lot of people these days know they can do whatever they want, repent, and go about their merry little lives making millions.”
Wait, what? Did you just say what you just said? No way, this is disgusting. The saddest part is that this person was dead serious. 2 quick proofs this is false ideology:
1. Jesus said in John 14:23-24, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word: and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love Me does not keep My words”.
So, according to the Word of God, which cannot be broken (John 10:35), people who do not keep Jesus commandments do not love Him. And people who do love and heed the Words of the Son are those who God makes His home with.
2. Paul, in the Holy Spirit, wrote this in Romans 8:13-14, “For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”
So, if we live according to the flesh we will die. What is the flesh like? Well you can go to Galatians 5:19-21 for an extensive list on the works of the flesh, they include pre-marital sex and getting drunk- among other things. But if we put to death the works of the flesh by the power of the Spirit of God which dwells within a believer- THEN WE WILL LIVE. Any questions? Paul then went on to say that people who walk according to the Spirit (see Galatians 5:22-25) are sons of God, the rest are sons of the devil (John 8:44). (see also Galatians 5:24)
“So Eminem could have (become a Christian) years ago. We just wont ever know it.”
Really? According to who? Here is what Jesus told us in Matthew 7:19-20, “Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them.” So, it looks like we ABSOLUTELY WILL KNOW IT if someone becomes repentant genuinely. Bad doctrine makes me sick.
“He isn’t going to give up making millions a year because he’s probably smart enough to know… Mark 3:28 “I tell you the truth.. There is no sin my father will not forgive”"
This person better start reading his or her Bible, because they are confused. Jesus was saying that every sin can be forgiven (I used to smoke crack), but that is only when their is genuine repentance. Repentance means to understand the serious penalty for your sins and to turn from them. Now, even though I could just say re-read the previous verses quoted to prove this overall quote is totally unscriptural, I will give two new one’s to prove this is Doctrinal nonsense:
1. Jesus, revealing what the kingdom of heaven is- (specifically the born again experience and the church collectively; John 3:3, Matthew 4:17) said this: “the kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.”
So, this is how it works- people subject everything to the will of God in order to be saved. God, I love You! And why not, since this world is so temporal and God offers us an eternity away from hell and towards His marvelous kingdom.
2. Jesus summed up this article beautifully- in fact perfectly- with His sayings documented in Mark 8:35-38: “Whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man will also be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”
