  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So...
Summer session begins this Monday, June 4th.
I'm taking two classes, Introduction to Ethics and Health, Safety, and Nutrition.

I started pre-reading for Health, Safety, and Nutrition and I already wish it was over.

Anyone else taking summer session?

Also, it seems that when I take notes on the reading I either write down too much or not enough. How do I figure out what needs to be in my notes?

I will be practicng music all summer; no class for me.

I hope your classes are going well.

I think trying to understand what you read and relate it to real life situation or relate it to something you like will help you better than writing note. Since you will have photographic memory out of it that way. It is just my way of learning though.

Hi! I'm taking summer classes too. I think a good way to figure out how to take notes depends on the teacher. If your teacher's focus is on the lecture in class, you may want to spend more time studying what they say in class. If they talk about a lot of things that are in your textbooks, be sure to listen to what they want you to read for the next day and look at the syllabus to get a good idea of what you will be going over in the class.
Also, if your school is registered to sites like rateyourprofessor.com, you can see reviews of the teachers you take and read reviews from people who have had them to get a better sense of how to study for the class. Hope that helps :)
