My little one is almost 3 and she's talking in sentences now, but only me and her sister seem to understand her. Her baby talk is just so cute! She leaves the first letter/sound off most words she says. We have a cat named Leo...she calls him "Eo". And if she is trying to says 'Chips, please', she'll say "Ips, pease". She loves Strawberry Shortcake, but she says it "Awb baby Ot tate". It's just so funny, she knows exactly what she wants to say, but she has this language all her own.

When my oldest was small, I remember she loved Piglet, but she couldn't say it...She'd call him "Pliget". And is there a child out there who can actually pronounce spaghetti correctly? Lol, I have my doubts.

Anybody with adorable baby talk stories?

Love, Heather

My two year old was using t sound for her f's. I'd call her doll face and she'd say I'm not doll tace I'm Grace. When she said face it would come out tace. I thought this was so cute until one day I came home and she clearly said "face". I was incredulous, how could that be! Then my wife said she'd been working with her on it. I was glad she learned properly but I was sad a little too.

My daughter had some interesting ones. For "yes" she said "si" (as in the Spanish word--we do not speak Spanish:confused: ). "Almost" was "mo-sup".

My son had a really hard time with his sister's name. For a long time "Clara" was "Quanno".
Eden has a hard time with Emily's name, too. She's been calling her "Mi-mi" since she could talk, but now that she's trying hard to get the words right she says "Em-mi-mi".

Love, Heather

My younger sister's name is Peggy Jo. When I was very young, I couldn't say her name correctly and called her "Tatlo" (Tay-tle-o).

When my husband was young, he called his Uncle Howard (he couldn't say Howard) "Uncle Hoggum".

My youngest sister would call peanut butter "pleanut blutter".

Our son called broccoli "trees" when he was very young.

I may post some more later. Our granddaughter (she'll be 17 mos. old in a couple of weeks) is learning how to talk, so I'm sure that she will be coming up with some cute words. Oh, I just thought of one. Our cat's name is B.C.; she calls her B. A couple of weeks ago, she said, "B sop i!" (Translated - "B.C. stop it!")

My little bro and sis called me "Mimi" too. (It's supposed to be Amy.) :)

My little brother had a lot of interesting words in his toddler vocab:

ketchup = kepidge
hamburger = hagummer
Grandma = Magma

He also couldn't say his own name (Willy); he said "Weedy." When our little sister came along, she said it the same way, so that nickname has stuck.

Oh, and after I got married, we asked my toddler cousin to say my new name, and he said "Amy Superman." (He is very into action heroes.)

This is sort of on topic -- but I had to post it. Ds is 3.5 yo. He was at a friend's house and their family refers to urinating as "having tinkles." So the mom asked my son if had any tinkles, and he looked at her quizzically and asked, "Is that a sort of berries? Tinkle berries?"

LOL! We just call it "pee" at our house!

All these are so adorable!!

More of Eden's cute words :

When she's eating chicken, she calls it 'bawk-bawk' (you know, the sound chicken's make). If she's looking at a live chicken, she calls it an 'itchen'.

She calls eyebrows 'ow-byes' (she reverses the syllables).

She's learning colors so she says 'pop-po' (purple), o-wange (orange), 'boo' (blue), 'eh-o' (yellow), 'peet' (pink), 'geen' (green), 'ed' (red)

When I tell her I love her she says 'uh oo too' (love you too).

Grandma and Grandpa she calls Ma-Maw and Pa-Paw...Emily called them Me-Maw and Pe-Paw.

So sweet!

My 3 year old is starting to talk a lot clearer now but she says everything in question form. If she has to go potty she says, "And I have to go potty?" If she's hungry she says, "I can have a nack?" If she doesn't want something that is offered at dinner she'll say, "And I don't want it?" My one year old doesn't say a lot of words yet but he says thank you like "tee too" and mine is "my".
