Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

hello, Eirwen, welcome to CF. Feel yourself at home.

Now, what a question, huh? To answer it, one must to deal with three concepts that, since the world is world, generate tons of discussion and theories:
- death
- Heaven
- soul.

Eirwen, what I can say is that you will get all kind of answers here. Will, probably, end with more doubts. Even if you posted that on the christian-only section of the forum, even there people would not agree. Even if you posted that in the area exclusive to a certain denomination, inside christian only area, people would not agree.

For instance, I believe in pre-existence of the souls and several lives. That way, this kind of question pratically answers itself. Count it as the first opinion, and don't take it as written-in-stone truth, please. Listen the others, there are many, many versions.

In the end, we all stay with the version that is more confortable for ourselves, and build or love for God (whatever is our vision of Him) our own way.

Peace.

It is my understanding that all souls on the other side appear to be in their early 30's.

But as to the age of each soul. It is my understanding that when G-d created everything, the creation of each soul took place as well. Therefor, no matter how old we are on Earth, we are in fact all the same age.

Bare in mind that time is meaningless except when it pertains to life on Earth.

Mind bending isn't it?

How do you come to that conclusion? Is there any scripture that backs up that age estimate, or are you just making it up?
That makes it seem like everything we learn it our lifetime is worthless.

"time is meaningless" - the way i think of it is that God isnt bound by our time parameters - he exists outside of them. he is alpha and omega - beginning AND end. he doesnt have a birthday coz he was always there - which means he knows everything past and future - u kno a thousand years is as a day and a day is as a thousand years. its hard to grasp but perhaps our eternal souls dont age or have an age (??). although im not sure where the whole early 30's thing comes from, or that all souls were created at once. bible verses?

I agree with the timelessness of souls. While when we are living we continue to develop spiritually, this development deals with living in the world and not in Heaven, where the soul resides when the body dies. It is not our souls which mature as we grow on this Earth, but we become more in tune with our souls. When we die, whether we be a month old or a hundred years old, our soul is still our soul. After all our soul is the spark of God within us which gives us life, first breathed into Adam upon creation. Anything which the Lord gives us is perfect and does not need to mature, but we must grow to understand and appreciate what is already there. Age does not matter to our souls.

hello
i have a question - if a baby dies and goes to heaven, does its soul mature?

I think our souls mature by how much we experience. By giving ourselves experience, we give God experience. As member standingontherock mentioned, our souls are the spark of God. This is how I believe God can be omniscient (all knowing?)

What is soul?
Technically would be a body and spirit that are joined together; indicating a completeness. It is also used synonymously with spirit. Sometimes it is used to represent a being as whole, or an intelligence.
In this case I think it's talking about a person's spirit.

God's word says I knew you in your mothers womb; thus, no need to be born again. Unborn children do live; they suck their thumbs, etc. At the zygote stage, it's more mysterious; however, I've read literature that discussed prebirth cognition. Can't recall any articles/books off hand thought. HHmm...

What determines the personality of one who never lived?

Does a person who was never born need to be born again?
