Avatar, anyone?

Nice to hear that someone over the age of 12 likes it. I thought I was the only one. I used to think it was stupid when I only saw bits and pieces but after I sat through an entire episode I was hooked!

Us college folk need some wholesome way to regress, you know!

Besides, I have to hand it to them. As a connoisseur of animation (both American and Japanese), Avatar is one of the best American-done animation shows in many years... right up there with the remakes of He-Man and X-men Evolution.

I am thinking the Americans are finally starting to catch on. I am curious to see what they come up with next, and I can't imagine why Disney is killing its animation department.

Whoa-whoa, back up a sec. Disney is killing it's cartoon? What the heck? Then what are they gonna make? All they'll have left is Pixar and Pirates of the Carribbean. Carttons are what made Disney Disney.

disney annoys me. sure they have 'cartoons' but some are just so terrible that they don't deserve to be called cartoons. i try to avoid the disney channel (and radio station) as much as possible.

*high fives fellow evo fans* x-men: evolution was awesome! that's what got me hooked on x-men! evo wanda *cough*user name*cough* and evo rouge are my favorite characters!

Last time I was at Disney (a few years back), the word was that they were phasing out their animation division in favor of CGI. I have not really kept up with the news since they managed to acquire Pixar.

I think that after many mergers and changes in management, Disney has lost its roots in "imagineering". Or at least it is taking a new tack while abandoning its original roots.

Japanese animation (at least much of Miyazaki's work) is inspired much by Disney. It is ironic to see Disney ignore the inspiration of the Japanese in deference to dollar signs from Pixar.

The last decent animated feature I can remember from Disney was Atlantis. Frankly, I think part of the problem is that Disney is running out of traditional Indo-European Myths and Fairy tails to spin, while the Japanese have a wellspring of art which comes from art rather than gimmicky remakes of old myths. This is why the Japanese will continue to be successful (and are now starting to overrun American animation): they are not afraid of letting art speak without economic filtering.

I like a few shows by disney and Nick. Avatar is the best show Nick's got (most I am repulsed by). Disney has declined in quality over teh years.

for me, disney = change the channel. nick = watch a few of the shows and do. not. miss. avatar! cartoon network = watch naruto and some of the other shows. adult swim = laugh at the 17+ age thingy and watch constantly.

Amen, sister! that +17 thing is a joke. I sort of feel sorry for Disney, practicaly the Father of Animation, the only thing way I am remotely connected to Disney is through Kingdom Hearts, which is a good way to relive the classics. I guess that's what happens when Walt Disney died.

thanks! yeah, disney's been going way downhill over the years. i wonder what's going to happen to american tv and movies when everything's owned by mcdonalds....

I think the comics got be hooked on x-men, but evolution is my fave. x-men thing (thing= books, comics, movies, anime etc..)

*slips in something about Avatar so this post is valid* I still haven't seen all the avatar episodes yet, but I'm working on it. I love Prince Zoku(sp?) And his Uncle. Speaking of, it's starting right now so I must go.

i hated comic books til i got addicted to x-men. evo was the first x-men thing i ever saw/read and i still think it's one of the best shows ever. cause i liked evo so much i ended up seeing the movies and bought the dvds. after evo went off the air and the next movie wasn't coming out for a while i dediced to start reading comics to get my x-men fix. i've only read the 'newer' comics because i just can't handle the old artwork. my fav comics are ultimate, new, xtreme, and the new version of uncanny. any 'newer' comic that has wanda (depending on how she looks and acts), rouge, remy, surge, or x-23 i'l probably like. (random rant: HOW DARE SCOTT CHEAT ON JEAN WITH EMMA! EMMA'S A {insert swear words and profanity here} AND SHE DOESN'T DESERVE SCOTT! THE PHOENIX WILL BE REVIVED AND THEN THEY CAN BE TOGETHER AGAIN!)

Back on track, my brother just got two of the Avatar DVD's for his birthday! I missed pretty much every episode of the first season so now I get to catch up without relying on Youtube!

I'll read any x-men comic and most other comics as well, I don't care much for Dark Horses artwork but the plot ines are good. I like Emma but her and Scott make a horrible pair. *ack* I will read anything with Remy as well and rouge has always been my fave. I like the evo Lance as far as the brotherhood goes but I adore the Ultimate Flash. <-:

youtube has practically EVERYTHING. i really don't care about scott, jean, or emma but scott and emma just should NOT be together! remy x rouge is my fav couple too, with wanda x kurt as a close second.
