Mark 4:35 On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, "Let us cross over to the other side." 36 Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. 38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, "Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?" 39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Peace, be still!" And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. 40 But He said to them, "Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?" F18 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, "Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!" NKJV

Mark 4: 37 But a heavy squall came on, and the waves were now dashing into the boat, so that it was fast filling.

39 So He roused Himself and rebuked the wind, and said to the waves, "Silence! Be still!" The wind sank, and a perfect calm set in. Weymouth

). 37 But soon a fierce storm arose. High waves began to break into the boat until it was nearly full of water. 38 Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. Frantically they woke him up, shouting, "Teacher, don't you even care that we are going to drown?" 39 When he woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the water, "Quiet down!" Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. 40 And he asked them, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still not have faith in me?" 41 And they were filled with awe and said among themselves, "Who is this man, that even the wind and waves obey him?" The New Living Translation

And a furious storm of wind [of hurricane proportions] arose, and the waves kept beating into the boat, so that it was already becoming filled.
Mark 4:37

4:39 And He arose and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, Hush now! Be still (muzzled)! And the wind ceased (sank to rest as if exhausted by its beating) and there was [immediately] a great calm (a perfect peacefulness).Amp

I just wanted first to show you this was a really bad storm. When I was 20, there were two elders in the charismatic church I went to who knew how to take authority over the weather. I watched them, and thought it was cool they could stop bad weather like that. So, I started practicing and seeing if God would let me do that. I started out on easy stuff, like if it was going to rain when the church was going to have a outside fellowship, I would go outside and command the sky to not rain. Or if it was raining in the morning, I would ask God to make it stop raining for our fellowship, and then I would command the sky to stop raining. Half the time, it worked, and the other half, I only slowed it down. You might not think that the weather is important to God, but it worked. It’s like we’re baby god’s and we have to practice walking. We fall down, and God says, try it again, little one, until we get it.

In Genesis, it says that God gave us dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the earth, and everything that creeps over the earth. We have authority over creeps. LOL Jesus was only exercising the dominion that God had given Adam (man-kind). We are to copy Jesus as His students in every area, except we aren’t allowed to receive worship. Except for that one thing, we are allowed to do whatever He did when He was on the earth. God has restored to the believer the same authority that He had given Adam before the fall.

Jesus didn’t use His being God to control the weather. He used the authority that had been given to Adam to calm the sky, and the sea. He never said, “Okay, I’m God, so sky you have to obey me.” He never used His God authority on the weather. He used the authority that had been given to man before the fall.

We are to imitate our Master. We are His students and we can do the same things that He did when He was on the earth. (Except for that one thing) We can take authority over the weather. I now mostly only do it when I feel like it’s getting dangerous. But, hey, you have to start somewhere. You need to start with something not dangerous until you get the hang of it. That way if you fail, it’s no big deal; it’s like a small child learning how to walk. You fall down, and then get back up and start walking again. Where riding a motorcycle or driving a car, you better know what you’re doing, because you could get hurt. If you’ve been practicing on weather that’s not dangerous, like calling for nice weather for a church fellowship, then when the hurricane, tornado, or earthquake come, you will be prepared and will know for a certainty you can make it back off from where you are.

It’s a good idea to ask God’s permission first on weather control. For instance, if you live in the desert, and it hasn’t rained in a long time, and you need rain desperately, then you should be praying for rain, not against rain, just because it happened to be coming right when you were going to have a church picnic. We have to be good stewards of the weather just like we do of everything else we are over. But, where I lived, it rained too much. So, making it stop every now and then wasn’t going to hurt anyone. I lived on the south coast at the time. I mean right on top of it, in a shrimping village. If I lived in the desert, I would be praying for rain, and finding out from God what to do to break whatever was causing the no-rain conditions.

Now, if the wind is blowing hard, and it’s raining hard, and threatening hail, then I stand in the middle of my living room—I pace too doing this—I look at my ceiling as if it was the sky, and I say, “I command the sky to calm down! Stop raining in Jesus name! I command you wind to calm down! Be peaceful!” If it’s really bad, and is taking a while to calm down, I do what Jesus did, and I get more serious, and say, “Be muzzled. Be gagged, in Jesus name.” Sometimes I yell at the sky and say, “STOP!!!” Whatever works. LOL If it’s hailing, I say, “In the name of Jesus, no hail will touch my car. No hail will touch my house. No hail will touch my windows and cause any damage. My windows on my mobile home, and the windows on my car are protected by the blood of Jesus, and there will be no hail damage.” I plead the blood of Jesus over my mobile home and car, and anything else that could be in danger. If the enemy is behind the bad weather, I want to be covered.

Usually the bad weather will get calm for me in five to ten minutes now. It used to take 30 min. to an hour, until God started trusting me, and He turned up my anointing. Faith always works when we work it. It may work the first time for you, and it may not. But, it will work, so keep practicing until you get it. We have to learn to trust God that He really will protect us. Because I know He is my Protector; that gives me confidence that I can command the weather to calm down. I don’t know if it’s angels who hearken to my words and they stop the weather, or if it’s God. But, it doesn’t really matter, as long as it gets done.

Ephesians 5:1 Imitate God like dear children copy and act like their Father.

:amen:

I like the part about "keep practicing". If we keep the Word in our ears, for faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God, and then we use it, it will grow.

We've had our share of hurricanes where we live. We had two Cat. 3s only 3 weeks apart from each other right where I live, and I must say God is good! He is faithful to His Word. I had my "hurricane scriptures" I stood on. I had no fear and I saw the goodness of God through the whole thing. Long story short, we saw God's favor repeatedly through it all and we came out better in the end than we were before.

I only wish all in the area could say that.:( My heart goes out to those still under "blue roofs".

God's Word is there for each one of us. It's not that God loved us more than our neighbors. It's that we believed Him when He said He's be our shelter and our refuge. We believed Him when He said nothing would harm us. And He has a bunch more to say on it!

God is good!

There were lots of tornadoes that went thru a certain neighborhood and cause damage quite frequently. I dont live there now but when I moved there and I took authority over it each time the weather got bad . I didnt think it was strange to try to stop it, altho some people did ^_^. I just beliive Him when He says we will do the same works as He did. There hasnt been any tornadoes go thru that neighborhood now for over 15 years

I agree. I think we ought to be doing His works too, after all, Jesus said we would!

In the case of Hurricane Frances, I was rebuking, binding, you name it, but as I continued in prayer, pressing in, I sensed something wasn't right. I got quiet to hear what the Lord would say. Immediately He began to speak to my heart. I can't go into all He said, but it was evident the storm would be coming. Through His instruction, I knew how to pray, what to do. My steps were ordered of the Lord. My property was covered with a supernatural protection. I had angels surrounding my place. Did I see them? No. I don't have to. God says they surround me. I believe Him. And they did. We didn't have a window broken nor a screen torn. Our damage was very minor and we had great favor with our insurance company.

Though the storm came here, I do know of another situation where a tornado was heading. In fact, it was in a meeting. Believers were gathered and the Word was going forth when the tornado hit the building they were in. Rain drops began to fall on the speaker's Bible. She spoke right up and told it to stop right there and do you know, that tornado ended right there! The radar at the weather station verified it all.

Then, in the case of the terrible tsunami that hit in Asia on Christmas Day on 2004, was it 2004? Can't keep up, anyway, there was a group of Christians that were not allowed to celebrate Jesus birth, being a predominate Muslim area. So every believer went out of the city up to a mountain to rejoice in the Lord. They were having their meeting high up in a safe place when the tsunami hit the city on the shoreline. Every believer was delivered.

In whatever the situation, God will meet the need. We see in the 3 examples I gave 3 different ways God delivered and kept safe those who trust in Him and keep his Word.

Now, let's got to the Word. We see Noah whom God delivered from a great flood.

I'm sure many of you could add to these accounts of God's faithfulness in adverse weather. Let's praise the name of the Lord who has delivered us from all fear and shelters us in his love.

Amen, great illustrations. I too take authority over the weather here where I live. I see the fruit of it in every storm.

As for the three hurricanes, I am over in Polk County and that frances one was a strange one for sure. The damage here was very very slight in comparison to other places nearby in town. Praise You Lord.

Did you notice Gordon? I think.. anyway, that big one that was just out there.. did you see how it went up the cost line but never came on land? Did you see how big it was.. huge. But, it is like the prayers of the saints were holding it off land in every county up the cost. To me, it is a picture testimony of prayer.

Adversion to sickness and storms and such will give a deep internal passion in prayer that brings forth fruits in prayer. Hallelujah

Jesus said we can do the same works as Him and greater works. In the gospels Jesus had authority over the wind and the sea, so we do too.

That happened to Gloria. It was her Bible that got raindrops. I love that story. She had just been told by God previously to stop saying "That just blows my mind." I think she said the tornado only hit that one building. She rebuked it and it stopped and left the city or town. Yeah the news media got the whole thing. Not one car in the parking lot was harmed. And not one person was harmed. The door even came off the hinges and was hanging there and not one person was hurt by it.

Because of her testimony, I stopped saying, "That just blows my mind."

Well, that's your first problem, in the bold highlight.

Did Jesus not command the weather?

Now, you probably have a religious understanding of this; and I'm guessing you believe that false doctrine of "Mere Theism".

Jesus did not command the weather simply because He was God.

He did NONE of His miracles simply because He was God.

He did them through faith, and the authority that God had originally given man before the Fall.

Jesus restored all that to us through His death.

Don't you remember, he said: "The things I do you also will do, and greater things than I"?

2.

Your second problem is the false doctrine of soverignty.

Yes, God is "soverign", but He doesn't micro-manage.

Whatever is in His Covenant is what He has SOVERINGLY chosen to do. So, to find out how God works, READ THE BIBLE!!

God DOES NOT move in mysterious ways. I'm so tired of that line I could just....

God has nothing to do with the weather. It operates on physics. (Which God created in the beginning; clock maker thing I guess.)

Sheesh, from that sentance, you make it seem like God could change his mind at any moment and decide NOT to be merciful!!

No wonder the world doesn't like Christians...

Anyway, God is the same yesterday, today, and FOREVER!!!! God IS love!!!!! He will NOT bring sickness on you, He will NOT harm you!!

Now, satan may bring things on you if you are in sin. But that's you're problem. Just repent.

===========================================

So..

Understand that God IS LOVE, God has given us authority and dominion over the earth, this dominion has been given back to us by Jesus.

What, you think the only thing Jesus got us was salvation? Sure, that would be great by itself, but that just ISN'T the case.

Well, I've rambled on and forgotten what I was going to say :D

I certainly hope I gave that religious spirit a run for it's money
