Mark 4:35 On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, "Let us cross over to the other side." 36 Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. 38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, "Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?" 39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Peace, be still!" And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. 40 But He said to them, "Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?" F18 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, "Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!" NKJV
Mark 4: 37 But a heavy squall came on, and the waves were now dashing into the boat, so that it was fast filling.
39 So He roused Himself and rebuked the wind, and said to the waves, "Silence! Be still!" The wind sank, and a perfect calm set in. Weymouth
). 37 But soon a fierce storm arose. High waves began to break into the boat until it was nearly full of water. 38 Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. Frantically they woke him up, shouting, "Teacher, don't you even care that we are going to drown?" 39 When he woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the water, "Quiet down!" Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. 40 And he asked them, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still not have faith in me?" 41 And they were filled with awe and said among themselves, "Who is this man, that even the wind and waves obey him?" The New Living Translation
And a furious storm of wind [of hurricane proportions] arose, and the waves kept beating into the boat, so that it was already becoming filled.
Mark 4:37
4:39 And He arose and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, Hush now! Be still (muzzled)! And the wind ceased (sank to rest as if exhausted by its beating) and there was [immediately] a great calm (a perfect peacefulness).Amp
I just wanted first to show you this was a really bad storm. When I was 20, there were two elders in the charismatic church I went to who knew how to take authority over the weather. I watched them, and thought it was cool they could stop bad weather like that. So, I started practicing and seeing if God would let me do that. I started out on easy stuff, like if it was going to rain when the church was going to have a outside fellowship, I would go outside and command the sky to not rain. Or if it was raining in the morning, I would ask God to make it stop raining for our fellowship, and then I would command the sky to stop raining. Half the time, it worked, and the other half, I only slowed it down. You might not think that the weather is important to God, but it worked. Its like were baby gods and we have to practice walking. We fall down, and God says, try it again, little one, until we get it.
In Genesis, it says that God gave us dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the earth, and everything that creeps over the earth. We have authority over creeps. LOL Jesus was only exercising the dominion that God had given Adam (man-kind). We are to copy Jesus as His students in every area, except we arent allowed to receive worship. Except for that one thing, we are allowed to do whatever He did when He was on the earth. God has restored to the believer the same authority that He had given Adam before the fall.
Jesus didnt use His being God to control the weather. He used the authority that had been given to Adam to calm the sky, and the sea. He never said, Okay, Im God, so sky you have to obey me. He never used His God authority on the weather. He used the authority that had been given to man before the fall.
We are to imitate our Master. We are His students and we can do the same things that He did when He was on the earth. (Except for that one thing) We can take authority over the weather. I now mostly only do it when I feel like its getting dangerous. But, hey, you have to start somewhere. You need to start with something not dangerous until you get the hang of it. That way if you fail, its no big deal; its like a small child learning how to walk. You fall down, and then get back up and start walking again. Where riding a motorcycle or driving a car, you better know what youre doing, because you could get hurt. If youve been practicing on weather thats not dangerous, like calling for nice weather for a church fellowship, then when the hurricane, tornado, or earthquake come, you will be prepared and will know for a certainty you can make it back off from where you are.
Its a good idea to ask Gods permission first on weather control. For instance, if you live in the desert, and it hasnt rained in a long time, and you need rain desperately, then you should be praying for rain, not against rain, just because it happened to be coming right when you were going to have a church picnic. We have to be good stewards of the weather just like we do of everything else we are over. But, where I lived, it rained too much. So, making it stop every now and then wasnt going to hurt anyone. I lived on the south coast at the time. I mean right on top of it, in a shrimping village. If I lived in the desert, I would be praying for rain, and finding out from God what to do to break whatever was causing the no-rain conditions.
Now, if the wind is blowing hard, and its raining hard, and threatening hail, then I stand in the middle of my living roomI pace too doing thisI look at my ceiling as if it was the sky, and I say, I command the sky to calm down! Stop raining in Jesus name! I command you wind to calm down! Be peaceful! If its really bad, and is taking a while to calm down, I do what Jesus did, and I get more serious, and say, Be muzzled. Be gagged, in Jesus name. Sometimes I yell at the sky and say, STOP!!! Whatever works. LOL If its hailing, I say, In the name of Jesus, no hail will touch my car. No hail will touch my house. No hail will touch my windows and cause any damage. My windows on my mobile home, and the windows on my car are protected by the blood of Jesus, and there will be no hail damage. I plead the blood of Jesus over my mobile home and car, and anything else that could be in danger. If the enemy is behind the bad weather, I want to be covered.
Usually the bad weather will get calm for me in five to ten minutes now. It used to take 30 min. to an hour, until God started trusting me, and He turned up my anointing. Faith always works when we work it. It may work the first time for you, and it may not. But, it will work, so keep practicing until you get it. We have to learn to trust God that He really will protect us. Because I know He is my Protector; that gives me confidence that I can command the weather to calm down. I dont know if its angels who hearken to my words and they stop the weather, or if its God. But, it doesnt really matter, as long as it gets done.
