Life can seem very tragic and unfair, even in the land of opportunity. You have a dream but find yourself in the dumps with no real prospects of recovery. You are depressed, and in your depression you cannot muster the energy to pull yourself up. You become too cynical to believe that there really is a cure for your failure. Bernie Kopell was a failure as a vacuum cleaner salesman. He had come to California to be an actor, but for even the few parts he was able to land, he received no pay. He thought that was what he deserved. Then, one day as Bernie was moping in the back room of the vacuum cleaner store, the owner put on a motivational record. What a con job, Bernie thought. But as he was trying to ignore the record, he accidentally heard the statement, Your mind is as the earth. Whatever you plant in it grows. If you plant potatoes you get potatoes. If you plant roses you get roses... Bernie began to listen.
Soon he was paying attention to the record, and it wasnt long before he began reading and attending lectures. Bernie began to believe that God had given him talent, and he became proud to be who he was and considered himself worthy of success. Acting partspaying roles!began to come his way. He appeared on Get Smart, That Girl, and in tons of guest spots on other television comedy programs. His big break came was he was cast in the role of Dr. Adam Bricker on Love Boat. The popular show aired from 1977 until 1986 and made Bernie Koppel a well-known star.
CONSIDER THIS: There is no telling what we can accomplish in our lives if we will only begin to believe in ourselves.
