I really don't understand the reason they decide to come here just to ridicule us. It's super frustrating. I understand that some who do come here are legitimate seekers so they shouldn't be banned as a whole I suppose but posts that make fun of Jesus are totally ridiculous.

I suppose I'm ranting, I just don't think cf is really the place for them.

I think, wether they know it or not, God is working on their hearts and drawing them toward Christians for prayer. If they hang around the water long enough they will eventually fall in.

Paul arrived in Athens around 51BC. Athens was a small city smaller than Corinth. For prominent Greeks and Romans it was a center for learning and the philosophical pursuit of truth. In Acts 17:16, Paul saw 3 different types of people. The religious, the street pagans and the intellectual philosophers. In the group were the Epicureans and the stoics.the stoics founded by Zena believed in many Gods. God was in everything and everyone, Much like the "pantheists" today. the epicureans believed that life is all there is, the atheists of today. So you see, "there is nothing new under the sun" Ecc 1:9

I'm sorry if you are around people who demean their brothers and sisters. I saw you quoted Bonhoeffer. Have you read the book "Bonhoeffer pastor, martyr, prophet, spy" by Eric Metaxas? Very slow read but very good book. He lost his life because of his belief in God.

I just wanted to give you my reasoning for being here and then I'll vanish (please don't flag me)

I find it more interesting to see, hear and understand where the other side is coming from and interact with them. Religion/spirituality/whatever is a big topic.

It think it would be rather boring to be on an atheist site, where they are talking about stuff I already "believe" in. They affect me less than those who are of different minds/opinions.

That's why I watch and read both liberal and conservative things.

In my opinion you have hit on something here. Having made a hobby of debating on liberal and atheists forums on the net, it is with a very illogical arrogance with which this group mocks Christians, especially do they mock Christians who believe in a born again experience. Two mental frame of references are identifiable in this type of exchange.

First, there is the mind set that the liberal and atheist believe they possess a superior understanding of reality than the Christian has. This group sees Christianity as somewhat a superstitious belief. Even liberal so called Christians will often say that you can not really prove there is a God and point to the assumption that Christianity is a matter of faith, thus, admitting Christianity is not based on proven facts. This type of reasoning is terribly wrong but too often Christians do not know why this type of reasoning is terribly wrong. Because not knowing how to show this reasoning is terribly wrong, the Christian becomes a subject of ridicule.

The truth of the matter: it is fun to but in on a debate between the Christian that is being mocked by an atheist. The reason is that the atheist is so foolish in this debate because every premise he uses depends on an assumption of a premise that requires a belief in God. Faith is not a nothing, faith is a substance just as real as any piece of matter is a substance. The simplest of people know there is two parts of reality: (1) ontological and (2) cosmological. This is a theme throughout the Bible and common among philosophers for metaphysics requires both mental recognition and solidarity of things to equal reality. Faith is evidence of things not seen. A rock or a noise is meaningless without recognition by a knowing being that these thing exist. In this way even physical things and knowing is necessary for reality to be.

This is the reasoning necessary for the self evident rights, truths, and liberties cited in the Constitution of the USA. This is the premise of the American belief that our rights and freedom come from God and is the reason Americans believe we are a Christian nation. God is the greatest self evident truth in the universe.

To ask a liberal or atheist to prove their is not a God is a very frustrating to an atheist or to a doubter. If you ever bring an atheist to this point of discussion, he will ban you from this part of his web site. He will claim the burden of prof is all yours. He does not think the rules of logic applies to him and his ways of thinking does not need an ontology (theory of being) or a reason to say there is no God. How foolish is this type of thinking?

The second fault an atheist has is that he does not understand that he must believe in the preexistence of God as an ontological being just to be a reasoning being himself.Modern day thinking of liberals and atheist is that there is no ontology that was not created by cosmology. This type of thinking is called phenomenological philosophy and is the main type of reasoning used in liberalism on most college and university campuses in America and Europe. Note that most liberals in this world are atheist. Demographically there are very few liberals that are Christians, but there are some whose search for truth has led them to Christ. So, we are not saying a liberal is not always an atheist.

Well, I think if they are interested in a CF, they are interested to talk about Christ. I think its probably they will know Jesus, I hope this.

Hi all, I'm looking for a person, I think he was Russian, who said in his life time there would be no more bibles. I was told that after he died his house was turned into a printing press for bibles. Not sure if that's true but if anyone knows his name please let me know. Thanks

On December 9th, 2005 (BC) Just kidding!!!!! Anyway in 2005 Professor Antony Flew of the UK's University of Reading, announced he accepts the existence of God. He was one of the most famous atheists in the academic world. In a remarkable reversal flew said that the universe was brought into being by an infinite intelligence. His new found atheism was a product of his sustained analysis of the data of modern science.

More of a deist (not that you stated otherwise).

Thats right, he is more of a deist. Personally I do not understand why atheists use the argument of science to disprove God or to state that because of scientific evidence it is not probable that a God exists because the existence of God will never be able to be disproved or proved with science. And I don't understand why there is so much fighting about evolution. Someone else that is really interesting is a scientist by the name of Dr Francis Collins. He became a Christian and believes that God was the designer in evolution. You can find speeches of his on the net.

Science deals with repeat-ability and demonstrability, neither of which you can find or do with gods.
