Well, Beastt actually made statements showing that actually he doesn't understand Christian thinking on these points. Put in context and not reduced ("when a fact is reduced, it ceases to be a fact inasmuch as it is reduced") it's not baseless.

The list of mods and members online don't have icons next to them. Unless they already know someone, they would randomly have to pick, and they wouldn't know, till you responded, who they chose.

I don't know if this has been asked already, but...

How are we going to determine a clear victory in the poll? I mean... right now we've got a 60-40 split here and that means that if either side won, there would be a substantial amount of people unhappy with this decision.

Should there be majority minimums applied to this poll? Or will this really come down to such divisions?

Actually between the posts that compare the old CF to Nazis/Hitler and the ones that compare it to slavery/the civil rights movement, it leaves a very bad taste in one's mouth. To think that anyone here is persecuted to that extent is absolutely ludicrous. If they were, I'm sure they'd walk away, or run, without hesitation. It sure would be nice if everyone came back down to earth and talked more realistic-like.

I voted option two. Meeting with other Christians online was the reason I joined this site. After nearly four years I've been to a variety of churches but this is the one church I haven't left. Being a site that was simply influenced by Christians would change everything.

Saying that being a mod is both ministerial and janitorial is begging the question. Say someone comes to a non-Christian mod and asks for spiritual guidance. Adding non-Christian mods to the mix, even with the possibility that one may actually give non-Christian advice, would hardly make things worse.

No, being a mod is not merely janitorial. The ability to facilitate discussion is not to be taken lightly; the sight has often suffered from debate mods who could not follow an argument. If non-Christians have that skill and place themselves at the disposal of the site, I think it would be a shame to turn it down. If that means someone gets referred to a book they wouldn't otherwise have heard about, then honestly, it's the least of horrors.

And BTW: The whole point of a ministerial team is that it gives you an asset, not that it gives you a pre-emptive strike against non-Christian views. It's someone who can help, and who would be qualified to do so, not necessarily someone you need to get in their first.

As it stands, the fear that a non-Christian could mislead is hardly more real than the fear that a gung-ho kid with half a Bible and a burr in a delicate place could mislead under the old CF. Misleading is a real possibility one way or another. If folks got serious about makiing sure ministers really were qualified, you'd have a real asset to help people in a variety of ways. It'd be a shame to see that turned down because pre-empting the prospect of non-Christian mods was a higher priority.
