Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.
But, it depends as to which moderator a seeker or struggling Christian turns to. What if there is a moderator who is another faith and decides to share their own non-Christian faith or philosophy instead of getting a Christian moderator involved or referring them to a Christian moderator? Why take the chance? Not that the fellow non-Christian staff members here today would do that at this point, but what about down the road, when this is no longer upfront and on the first page of the newspaper sort of to speak? There is no way of protecting the lambs.

Not trying to say that any of the non-Christian mods are less than stellar in the performance of their jobs, but this is what we hear on a daily basis. That we have all gone power-crazy. We are not trusted even as far as we can be thrown, but yet we are asked to put our trust in someone whose position on many issues is diametrically opposed to a Christians. I haven't taken a firm stance on this issue, but some things do weigh on my mind.

No, I'd much prefer that you take a moment and recognize that you're claiming to believe one thing but insisting on practicing another. And I'm not calling you a bigot. I'm simply showing you that the system you're promoting is one of bigotry by any recognized standard. So don't get mad, get enlightened.

When you insist that to be a Christian site Christians have to be in charge and in control over non-Christians, you're showing prejudice and intolerance. Being a member of staff isn't a job that Christians can naturally do better than non-Christians. In fact, when you consider the fact that one of the primary mandates that should apply is being impartial, forcing every team to consist of Christians only is practically guaranteeing that impartiality won't exist.
I've never suggested that CF stop utilizing true Christian values. There would be no point because it never has. It's used dictatorial values consistent with pure bigotry. I'm suggesting that it lives up to what it claims. It claims to be a "community" which promotes "Christian values". But it has no credible claim to being a community when the members are under the thumb of a few select Christians and as long as it promotes inequality and intolerance, it's not practicing Christian values.
You're only using those labels because there's no logical argument against what I'm saying. Yet you don't want to admit that I'm right, so you just apply labels. If you think I'm wrong, then demonstrate that I'm wrong. But you can't. And you can't because I'm right.
You're promoting bigotry, not Christianity.
With all due respect D'Ann, I feel that a good moderator would know when to refer such religious questions or prayer issues to the appropriate help. Also there are some non religious, non spiritual areas of the board such as fellowship areas that a non Christian mod could be an asset. GBU all
I think your point about mods being de facto figures of authority and "witness" if you will is a very good one. This is the main reason why I am opposed to having a non-Christian be a mod in any forum. It is not that I do not think they are incapable of doing a good job. I believe that by its very nature a mod commands a certain degree of respect and authority and having non-Christians in these positions quite frankly sends a mixed message.
actually, why couldn't there be a rule that if ANYONE got a pm from a seeker we would automatically refer them to the pastoral team?with all due respect Concetta... I'm sure that a good moderator would refer such religious questions and/or prayer requests/issues to fellow Christian moderators right now today, but what about tomorrow? There is no guarantee that the future new non-Christian mods will also do this. Also, on the board where there are fellowship areas and non-Christian areas... I have had several non-Christians come to me and inquire about Christ and request prayers because they know that I'm a Christian. Many people all over the board are searching and thus, that is why we need Christian moderators on every forum, but I do like the idea that Just an observer suggested... assistant moderators.
I think the idea of pulling in consultants is a good one, too.not to derail or to take off topic but there was this othe idea suggested not long ago...

with all due respect, you (and anyone who is non-Christian) are looking at all this from a non-biblical worldview so you can't really understand where most Christians who are posting in this thread are talking about. non-Christians CANT fulfill this site's stated mission as they do not have the Holy Spirit living in them. I wish my non-Christians friends on CF did, but they don't choose to. CF cant unite Christians as one body without the Holy Spirit.
Funny; I'm a Christian and I agree completely with Beastt. You just seem to be deflecting debate with baseless "you can't understand" assertions.
Hold on a minute, D'Ann. It is God who sends a person to one of His Servants. Let us have faith that if a true Seeker comes here, that God is in control, and will make sure that the person comes in contact with the right person. I honestly do not think this is something we have to worry about.
We have far more to worry about with our own infighting turning people away than a non-Christian mod not being able to give Spiritual advice.
