Can you be assured that none of the current Christian moderators are lying about their faith? Or that they won't abuse their positions in various ways?

I keep praying for cf to be safe for christians.

Hi Taylor,
What do you wish to be safe from? This is certainly a genuine concern. I just want to understand what your fear is.

Lying about their faith I am sure that they are not. Abusing their position is a different story, but I have not seen much of that.

That can happen. This has happened in real life in Christian organizations and Churches. They are often called "wolves"

with all due respect, you (and anyone who is non-Christian) are looking at all this from a non-biblical worldview so you can't really understand where most Christians who are posting in this thread are talking about. non-Christians CANT fulfill this site's stated mission as they do not have the Holy Spirit living in them. I wish my non-Christians friends on CF did, but they don't choose to. CF cant unite Christians as one body without the Holy Spirit.

with all due respect Concetta... I'm sure that a good moderator would refer such religious questions and/or prayer requests/issues to fellow Christian moderators right now today, but what about tomorrow? There is no guarantee that the future new non-Christian mods will also do this. Also, on the board where there are fellowship areas and non-Christian areas... I have had several non-Christians come to me and inquire about Christ and request prayers because they know that I'm a Christian. Many people all over the board are searching and thus, that is why we need Christian moderators on every forum, but I do like the idea that Just an observer suggested... assistant moderators.

I am afraid of "wolves" more than I am afraid of cults, atheists and others. I can deal what I know but its harder to deal with the wolves who act like "wildlife terrorists" that comes in without us knowing. I like it better when there is an atheist than being a hypocrite Christian.

actually, why couldn't there be a rule that if ANYONE got a pm from a seeker we would automatically refer them to the pastoral team?

I think the idea of pulling in consultants is a good one, too.

That actually applies directly not only to atheists & deists & other religions but to Christian groups outside the norm, and even a number of groups historically thought to be in Christianity.

I think wider consultation in moderating the forum is essential.

I've a philosophical problem with wider moderation of the forum by non-Christians. Especially if we're to represent Christian thought to the level I would hope CF eventually rises.

The people once banned are Christians. It was through an unfamiliarity with their perspective I think that triggered this issue. The same solution that could account for non-Christian thought may well account for Christian thought more evenly.

Funny; I'm a Christian and I agree completely with Beastt. You just seem to be deflecting debate with baseless "you can't understand" assertions.

"Christian Forums was started in 2001 as a "hobby" by Dr Erwin Loh, the founder and webmaster of Christian Forums.

Since then, Christian Forums has grown to become the world's largest Christian forums community website, and is one of the top 20 largest forums in the world. It now has tens of thousands of members and millions of posts from all over the world from people of all denominations and faiths."

This quote comes from "About Christian Forums" under the FAQs.

I don't know about anyone else but I did a search and found my way and chose this forum because of it's name. Could it be that the tens of thousands of other members did, also. I think it is the Christian Community that made this site what it is today and should continue in the original venue but make it better from within.

If there are things that need to change, who better than the Body of Christ can find the mind of Christ and change them.

I already voted in the other thread.
