  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I think they should let companies begin to stake out some claims in order to get things going. Preventing private rights to anything out in space stifles competition and slows the pace of exploration. After all, it was search for material gain that led to the exploration frenzy started by Spain.

Here is a time estimate of when the materials which are abundant on asteroids will become scarce on Earth.


So that is at the least in the year 2067.

wich given how slow space travel advancements ae is, is about how long it will take to make space mining profitable hehe.

Seemed to be going at a fast clip back when they were sending people to the moon. What happened? Russia butted out of the Space Race and no more political motivation?

Just watched the video.

It talks about how the mission will also be important in testing an asteroid deflection technique by using the captured asteroid to test it on the way to placing it in lunar orbit.
