ASPCA commercials

I can't find the "animals and pets" section of the forum, so since it is TV-related, here is the best place I can find to start this thread.

I'd like to know your impressions of these commercials. Are you saddened by them, as I am? It hurts to know that these creatures, created by God, are suffering so much.

And the music they play in the background, especially "Angel", makes it really heart-wrenching.

The songs they play on those commercials are bad enough, but when they show the sad and hurt eyes on these poor animals, it's almost a little more than what I can stand to see. I cannot imagine anybody treating a living creature the way these animals have been treated.

i turn it off and cant watch or hear it,i know its meant to shock us. i am aware of animal abuse,i donate like alot of us do and so i do my part. i just cant cope with the stories or the pictures.

The section you are looking for is Christian Forums Pets in the WELCOME CENTER; there is a sub forum for REAL pets

I watch the 'animal cops' shows now and then...it is heartbreaking to see what some animals suffer at the hands of their owners

I can't stand it when marketers appeal to emotion. I immediately remind myself of that fallacy, and I either press mute or turn the channel.

We Played that song @ my Late husband's funeral-we found it soothing--

I have always been a DOG LOVER!!!!

I try to take pets I believe would end up in shelter's in order to prevent that step, but I have gone to the shelter & rescued animals. I think the "sale" of pedigree play
animials (not those used in farming or hunting) should be forbidden until local animal shelters are at 50% of capacity or less.

Animal shelters are jails. Pure and simple. And the dogs did nothing wrong, by-and-large. The commercials remind me of that fact, so I guess they make me sad, too.

If you're talking about the commercials that ask for your $19.95 a month, while I agree that animals are mistreated sometimes, I'm sorry but if I have an extra $20 a month, it's going to a kid in India, not a dog.

I normally agree, but am all for it in this case.

Those commercials cause me to hope there is a special very warm place awaiting slime like M. Vick and those similar when they die.

Well, yeah, they are pretty depressing, but I like watching Animal Cops on Animal Planet and I've worked at a vet clinic for many years so I've seen a lot. I think, because of my experience, I see the commercials as playing toward people's emotions a little too much. They definitely have a good cause, though, and I want to foster animals when I'm independent and help out with SPCAs when I can. People who treat their animals as if they don't deserve dignity, love, and happiness need a reality check and a good shoulder shake.
