• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I can relate to thinking i must be perfect before i come to God, I went a few months obsessing over this, Im telling you right now it is not going to happen, we all want to be perfect before God but thats why we have Jesus. He died because we cant be perfect.

He taught me over the few months that it really isnt going to happen and the more i try to be perfect the more im going to stumble...Sounds a bit weird but for some reason i stumbled so much more..(i think one of the apostles had the same exact problem)

In the end one thing God taught me is He ;oves me no matter what our faults are, He just wants us to try. Let Him take care of the rest from there.

You have to keep telling yourself " Through Christ im good enough!"

Amen to that Heavenheart81,
Orangecrush...i relate, boy do i relate! I am so sorry your struggling with that! Remeber in John 6:37 Jesus says- All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.
If we go to Jesus that means the Father has given us to Him and He will not reject us!!
I feel your pain of your struggle...it is hard, but keep trying to remeber the scripture!
I prayed for you!!!

Hey OrangeC.
Doesn't sound strange to me at all. It just sounds like a typical OCD tactic. I know it's hard when we get into these flares of OCD - I'm praying for you that you will be able to let go of the thoughts and the need to have reassurance about them so you can get to feeling better soon.
Praying for you,
Mitzi

It IS OCD, believe me on this. As you can probably readily see on this forum, lack of assurance of salvation is very, very, (add about 5 more verys here) common in Christians battling OCD. It' s just one of the manifestations of it often when you're a Christian.

When I first came to Christ, I felt like I had to do it over and over "to get it right." That's OCD thinking -that any of our decisions somehow have to be "perfect."
