You know how often I've either heard a christian or read a book by a christian where they speak of how God proved himself to them, uniquely to their current situation. Something that was personal and life changing in their perspective of God, Jesus and their relationship with God and Jesus.

I desperately want Jesus to prove himself to me, and yet I feel like asking this is frowned upon by many christians; and that when someone is asking for this they are merely wanting to be ZAPPED and to have an experience.

This is not what I am longing for from God...I want a fundamental transformation within of God's person in my mind and heart and to have his truth solidified within me so that I'm not doubting him anymore the way I do.

Keith Green said in his song Altar Call that God proved himself to him in such a holy way, such a complete way that he'd die for that faith, that he'd die for that belief.

I wish Jesus would make himself real to me beyond my mind's own ability to doubt him.

Check out the story of Gideon in the Old Testament. God doesn't mind and even encourages "testing of the spirits" He always comes out the winner. . . . God isn't afraid. I think folks that frown on it are more unsure of themselves than anyone could reasonably worry about offending God in such a way.

So many out there want proof, a sign, a miracle to show them God is real. It is not that God doesn't want to prove Himself to everyone, it is just no matter what God did in the past, there were those who still refused to follow God. Jesus walked among thousands of people, how many really ended up following Him even though they saw what He did and heard His own voice? Yet, hundreds and maybe thousands yelled, Crucify Him even though they saw the things He did and heard the words from His own mouth and yet they did not believe. So now God leaves it up to Blind Faith. Now if you just Trust God to take care of you, you will see miracles happen. Those who had a stronger belief in God have Trusted God to take care of them and they have survived things others didn't that were in the seat next to them or next to them on a street when a building fell. Just that Trust in God to take care of you is your way of meeting God half way for God will not do everything for you, for He leaves your life up to you and what choices you make. You can listen to other people all day long about how God saved them, helped them, or just proved in His own way to them that they could know they had God watching over them. But it was because they lived a Christian life, they walked with God in the Blind Faith and Trusted God, just as they know the wind is there but they cannot see it. If you are looking for God to show you some great Love, then you have to go to God and He will show you. Just wanting something from God without meeting God half way is not going to happen. You have to get up and open your heart to God and He will welcome you with open arms. The Love for every Christian they feel inside comes from them loving God and God returns that Love 10 fold. First you have to Love God in order to feel that Biblical Loving experience from God. When a lady loves a man, the man feels nothing, but she has that loving feeling. The same with a man loving a woman. She will feel nothing, but he feels a lot of Love in his heart for her. Same with God, God Loves you a lot, but you do not feel that Love since it is God giving it. When you Love God, then you feel that Love for God as you would any other person as well. The feeling comes from you, not the other person. They may return that Love, but that Love is accepted by your soul without any feeling to your body. However, without knowing it your Soul returns that Love even if you don't feel it. Perhaps if you are looking for something that really might have took God to do, look back at your life and think of things that God may have saved you from harm. People say they want to feel Loved, but that Love they want to feel is them being in Love with another. Love does not require touch, it comes from the heart and the other person can be a thousand miles away and we can still Love them and feel that feeling of Love. But that feeling is our own feeling inside for the other. I don't know why God created us this way that we cannot feel Love from the other person, but I am sure He had His reasons. Only thing I can think of is so we would remain loyal to the one we commit our lives to and not just be distracted by the thousands of others we meet in life that Love us. Who knows. Perhaps if a woman felt so much Love from every guy she would never get married. I think that helps us stay committed when we Truly Love someone. You have to first come to God and Love God, that feeling will be increased 10 fold and I am sure many who Love God have experienced that and once they do, they will tell you the same as the others that proclaimed what they felt. If you need solid scientific proof, there are thousands of historical documents outside the Bible that document Jesus during His time, that such things that were talked about that were built that most of them are still standing today. (Some are buried and being found.) The evidence is overwhelming when you start to look. Hope this helps, but first believe without seeing, as if you were blind, then Trust, then Love and then you will find what you are looking for. God Bless.

I don't need to see Jesus to know he exists. I just believe and know he exists. Remember this line friend, it is so true: "Seeing isn't believing, believing is seeing." That comes from the Santa Clause. That is so true with Christianity. In Jesus' day, people kept asking for him to perform signs to them if he was legit or not. The only sign he gave them was this: "Like Jonah was in the belly of the fish for 3 days and nights, so must the Son of Man be."

We can't test God, but God can test us to see if we are faithful. Plus, God would never do evil against us to test us. remember God is love. He cares so much that he sent His son to die in our place. There is no greater love than that, friend. God bless you and I hope you find the answers you seek.

Benjamin,

I actually had one of those experiences. It was unexpected but came from my obeying a simple Bible truth. I had been fasting and praying for some certain individuals to be set free from certain chains. I did this for several weeks and didn't question why it was taking so long. I even got several other fellow believers to join in what I called a chain-fast. Each day one of us fasted and prayed for these same things and those certain someones.

Weeks in, maybe six weeks or so, an evangelist was headed to China when she stopped in the airport and said God wanted her to come to our church. She had only been there once before.

She came, and guess who was delivered in such a miraculous way? Me. I didn't even know I had that kind of baggage in me. I suppose those I prayed for were not ready to hear God or let him do anything special that way in them. I was completely taken by surprise. I had an experience that forever sealed my faith. It was THE moment when I was completely consumed by the Holy Spirit in such a way that I was supernaturally healed of what I call a generational curse of abuse, and I was never once abusive to my kids. The cycle was broken just like that. What I FELT... I can't describe. But it was just God.

Look to God's Word for times when God says He will prove himself; times when He proved himself to someone in the Bible. He wants to do that as long as it is according to His will. Seek out what his will is. Find what you think would apply to you, and say, "God, let's rock and roll. This looks like something I need. You say in your word you'll do it. You did it for so-n-so. Now do it for me. Just tell me what my roll is, and help me to be obedient and patient as I wait on You. Lord, prove yourself to me. Give me an experience the likes of which will forever seal my faith in Who You are."

And Benjamin, I agree with you in prayer as you seek this from God. Of course it's okay to ask him to prove himself.

O yeah, another instance He proved himself was when I had no money to give for offerings. He told me to give away all my good clothes that I never wore. The GOOD stuff, mind you. I did... a box full. I told no one. A week later, someone gave me 2 boxes of clothes. God told me to take some things for myself and give the rest to the homeless truck. I did. Then I got 3 boxes. And so on until the last time this happened during that sequence of events, I had the homeless truck loading up 7 boxes of clothes, toys, appliances, tools, dishes... you name it. God did every bit of it. He proved that His Word is true.

God bless you. You're after God's heart.

Isn't it a tragic reflection upon the state of Christianity in these last days when this simple spiritual request,"I want a fundamental transformation within of God's person in my mind and heart and to have his truth solidified within me so that I'm not doubting Him anymore the way I do" is met with ignorant advice to just forget it?

Let's get it straight now.:clap:The name of what you are requesting is called the "Baptism of the Holy Spirit".

How do you obtain it? A.Eliminating sin from your life B.Increasing your Christian faith C.Praying for it!

Is it necessary? Absolutely not unless you want to receive salvation. :o (John 3:3-7)

Oh now I get it! No wonder the world is so sick with so many "Christians" not even learning about salvation in their churches!!

Don't concern yourself with how other people look at something. You are accountable for your own relationship with God before God. Make it like you can do it, according to you. Many people think different things. Which people would you be choosing to live according to? It will be a mistake. Live your own life and make your own decisions. When hearing people's opinions, remember: they are simply opinions. They are NOT God speaking (although it could be, but how will you know?)

I do feel for you. Somebody else I know is having this too: asking God to prove His existence to Him. And although God has sent a thousand things his way (I can tell since I am a believer), he is not accepting them as proof.... I am not sure why this works the way it works, but hang in there... To this person God said: "we've only just began". That meant to me that this person's journey has just started (only 1 year) and there is still work to do before he can believe. Maybe it's the same with you. But DO ask God whatever you feel asking. He is your God. You are His son. You have to have our own relationship with Him, according to Him and according to you (not according to what people think of anything).

Its hard to explain to some of my atheist friends, but I just know he exists. God should't have to prove himself to you.

I was walking to a store in town after bad things happened (Parents using drugs, sister having to go to court because she was missing school) and I thought that maybe, just maybe, everything would be OK if 8 Semi-trucks, passed by the time I got to my destination, and I was stunned that exactly 8 went by before I got there.

That was years ago, I didn't ask God to prove himself, just to let me know things will be OK, I didn't really believe in God back then anyways. Even though I went to a Catholic school, I said I did, but didn't really feel it. Now I do believe, that was achieved through faith, not acts.

I wish Jesus would make himself real to me beyond my mind's own ability to doubt him.

I've been researching Near Death Experiences for some time Benjamin. I've read over 200 hundred witness accounts. During my research I came across a witness statement that said God told him it was okay to ask for evidence of his existence.

So one night, whilst I was laying in bed I humbly asked God for evidence he existed. I already had faith and have never doubted his existence, but some evidence would solidify my understanding. In that moment a massive green and blue comet lit up my entire bedroom. I was laying next to my wife and she had just fallen asleep. It was so large it took up the entire double glass sliding door. It sounded like a fire work. It had a green tail and a blue core. I later learned it burnt this color due to the metals it was made up of. I reported it to the international meteorology center in the US.

What are the chances that at the exact moment, perhaps between 5 and 10 seconds after I asked, a massive comet would burn through our atmosphere exactly in the position where it would pass right in front of my eyes and light up my bedroom in blue and green light. I woke up my wife but by the team she stirred it was over.

I have a slightly different belief system than most Christians, I am Church of England by birth. I do not believe God is the punishing God many of us are led to believe. The only thing he wants from us is to love each other, it is the single most important aspect of our existence. There is nothing you can do that would reduce his love for you. Ask away, do not be afraid.

There are those that do not seek evidence, and that's okay too. What could possibly be wrong with wanting to feel the presence of God in the your life. God does not need to prove himself of course, but unlike us Humans he is not always thinking of himself. He wants us to know we are loved, and that he is always with us and we are always in his thoughts. If only you knew how much God and Jesus love you - your heart would be filled with warmth every waking moment.

Wanting evidence does not make you any less faithful, or less deserving of his love. He is infinitely wise, and he knows we are like children in the grand scheme of existence. If the time ever comes, in life or in death, always know you can call on God or Jesus.
