  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

well i'm new here and have posted a few replies that were challenged...lol...i'm not use to a lot of confrontation but i hope to able to define my beliefs and opinions more. so here's a topic i'll strike up: if you heard a rumor that your friend's boyfriend was cheating on your friend, would you tell your friend- even though it's a "rumor" and you don't know if you can trust the source so you don't know if it's true?

Dear Asking,

That is a difficult question. You feel the need to protect your friend, but by telling her a rumor, could cause serious problems. If the rumor is false, you could be blamed for trying to end her relationship. If it is not false it could end a happy relationship with her boyfriend.

However, if you find out for certain that her boyfriend is cheating, and you don't tell her, you would be violating her trust, and again lose your friendship.

I would keep quite until I knew for sure. Then I would have to tell her the truth.

hmmmm....
most of the time...
rumors are just rumors...
I would seek Gods advice first...
ive learned to go directly to the person of the rumor and ask them if its true--
tell them you are concerned cuz u heard the rumor...
i would FIRST go ask the boyfriend if its true...
-----
you may do something different...
thats just whati would do

I would keep my mouth closed unless I had first-hand information. Rumors are rumors and half the time they aren't even truth. Unless I have concrete evidence I would not say a thing. Once you do know for sure then yes, the friend should know.

Proverbs 11:13
A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.

Proverbs 26:20
Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.

Proverbs 17:9
He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.

Proverbs 18:13
He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.

If I had a nickel for every rumor I heard that wasn't true, I wouldn't have to work anymore!

If you hear from a teenager that another teenager is cheating on their significant other, but you haven't seen them cheating, ignore it. Teenagers gossip to get attention, and sometimes they gossip hoping to break up the relationship.

If you hear from a mature adult who saw the cheating with their own eyes, encourage that adult to talk to the person who's being cheated on. It's better for her to hear what's going on and be unhappy about breaking up than it is to find out later and be crushed because everyone knew and no one told her.

Rumours are often not true. I used to believe in a rumour that concerned this classmate of mine. And as a result of that, I was quite hostile to her, at first. But then, I realise we have common interests: Neo pets and we became great friends. Since then, I was not so quick to believe rumours unless I see it for myself that the rumour is not just a rumour, but is also the truth.
