  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ask an Australian? But would that mean I am asking myself? Am I only allowed 1 question? Because I have just asked 3 so I am not sure if you can answer them all.
Are these supposed to be real question i.e. the deep and meaningful kind or the weird annoying kind (see above)?

If you could have any dream of yours come true - no matter how big and extravagant - what would you choose?

Hmm, that's a tough one. I'm reasonably sure that most of my dreams wouldn't actually be good for me if they were to come true.
All right. The 'great Australian dream' is to own a home. So I'd like to have a home built into the face of a hill, at least 3/4 of the house subterranean. Eastward facing looking over the ocean. On acreage, powered by sunlight and possibly wind. Multi storey with a walk in cellar and wine cellar. I'd like it to have at least 1/2 doz. bedrooms so that way I can have friends and family stay, even for extended periods of time. Actually, make it a dozen, I'll fill the other half with kids. :)

Yep, ask an Australian. I went back and looked at the previous FTB threads for 3-4 years and your name hadn't originated as one of them. :p

You could ask yourself, or you could ask this Australian. The title thread is more a suggestion for lines of questioning for those who aren't sure what to ask.

You can ask me as many questions as you want.

Ok, you can ask me D&M questions, practical knowledge questions, weird annoying questions (Like asking me how many questions you can ask. I did think about just answering one of them ambiguously and letting you work out what I was answering), or simple questions like 'What did you have for breakfast?' The answer of which being, 'I haven't broken my night-time fast yet.'

Could be a couple of issues.
Firstly the DVD region. Indonesia is region 3 and Australia region 4, so if you are trying to play a DVD sourced from Indonesia and playing it in an Australian computer/laptop/dvd player then it just won't run. I'm going to assume it is a computer/laptop as you mentioned the drivers. The other issue is an out of date driver, or corrupted files. So let's take a look at fixing them.

If you can determine that the DVD is region 3 you are going to have to find out what brand and model your dvd player is. Do this by going to your hardware settings (usually a right click on 'My Computer' and going to properties. Scroll through the hardware devices till you find the DVD player. Have a look at its properties, you might be able to change what region it is there. Be warned that there is a maximum number of times you can change the region.
Coincidently there will also be a button that will let you update your drivers.

Alternatively, once you know the brand/model of the player you can go to the manufacturers website and download drivers through there, and you can run a web search on 'brand/model unlock region' and there might be instructions on how to let your player run DVDs from any region, any time.

Let me know how it goes.

No it is a dodgy illegal dvd I boughy here. I had the same problem with my sound driver here a couple of months back and the problem as so complicated it took a computer guy a couple of hours to fix. I will try to find the driver but I think that I will need a back plan. And as it is just 6 am I think I need a cup of tea to fix the problem.

If you were taking a friend who has never been to Australia to the Sydney region for 2 days, what would you do?

Hmm. If I could interact with it I might be able to fix it, but I'm terrible with remote computer support.

Sydney region? Are we talking Sydney City, Sydney or the Greater Metropolitan area?

Sydney Harbour Bridge climb is pretty expensive, alternatively there is the Sky Walk above Centerpoint Tower (not to mention they have done up the shopping area below it, very stylish and a girls clothes haven if you like to dress up pretty and stuff).

The Rocks. If you're there on a Saturday the markets should be on.

Bondi Beach, it's summer and should be rocking. Take a train (parking will be horrendous) to Bondi Junction and then a bus to the beach. Alternatively head to Clovelly beach (nice a peaceful) or Coogee beach (in between).

Leichart/Balmain is good for boutique shops and cafés.

Wollongong is an hour south of Sydney. :p

Newcastle is one and a half north. I wouldn't do the Hunter Valley, that's a two dayer by itself.

When you start heading west stop off at the 3 sisters in Katoomba, or spend an entire day at the Jenolan Caves, get there early. Awesome, amazing rock formations.

I hope this helps.

Lol it is a beautiful area of the world. We used to go down there and stay at my aunts holiday house. It was so much fun! Loved the beaches down that way.

As for the bridge climb I think that my friend would kill me first or just watch me do it. Maybe it is better I do that another time.

Did you finally have breakfast (I feel I have to ask a question now in every post as that is the point of this thread) :p
