  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Wow, someone from melbourne!
*whack!*

Hmmm, nursing is a strange profession to choose then lol.
It's more that I can't handle discussing blood - dealing with it is okay, and discussing it as long as I'm actually there dealing with or handling it is fine. If we get into a discussion about blood clots, though, I'll throw up.

umm, what year are you at uni?
1st.

You like stuff?
I prefer things, actually.

Why is green such an amazing colour?
Firefighters (in some country, maybe this one) either do or used to ask people what their favourite colour was, and wouldn't employ them if their answer was green, as it's supposedly a colour linked to pyromania. That's pretty cool. ;)

Get out of town... me too! Exams are coming up though.. eww.

Yeah stuff sucks. Things are okay, but items are my favourite. Oops, I forgot this isn't about me.

I'll remember that if I ever apply to become a firefighter... I can't imagine this being true though, I didn't think adults had 'favourite colours' :p So to ask someone what their favorite colour is in a professional job application seems a bit strange lol
"Do you have any credentials? Do you have any past experience in firefighting? What is your favorite colour?" just seems a bit out of place ^_^

Okay another one, why/how did you choose your username?

I know, but you know how the saying goes. :D

The word "mix" and the movie ET. I was making a mix CD for my friend, and I don't even like ET, but aliens are cute.

What were the prerequisites for getting into nursing school and what were your grades for these classes?

What do you want to specialize in as a nurse?

How can you not possibly enjoy the sight of blood and were you serious about fainting?

  • A minimum study score of 25 for biology. I got 38.

  • Having completed math in either year 11 or 12. I completed it in year 11 and got 87% on the final exam.

  • We also had to undergo a basic literacy and numeracy test with the result given to us being either a pass or a fail. I passed.

What do you want to specialize in as a nurse?

Neurology or rehabilitation.

How can you not possibly enjoy the sight of blood and were you serious about fainting?

Oh no. No, I'm fine with the sight of blood and with handling it. I can even talk about the very basic stuff ("blood goes in here, comes out there") - but once you get into pulmonary embolisms, heart attacks and strokes, I feel weak at the knees.

I'm fine looking at and dealing with this stuff, though. We were dissecting ox hearts in class and I squeezed a clot out of a small vein without any trouble at all. I feel funny in the tummy (and legs, weirdly - always the legs) relaying that story, though.

I was very serious about fainting. We were talking about injuries to the aorta in our fourth class of the year and I stood up to get a drink because I felt sick. Immediately after leaving the classroom, I fainted.

Rehabilitation of patients seems like they would most likely be referred to a physical therapist rather than a nurse.

Not sure what you mean by this.

And neurology, oh, such sad cases of strokes, TBIs, development disabilities, etc.

Good for you though!

So what is your weekly schedule like?

How often do you scream over your studies?

What is your next comp test on?

Rehabilitation nursing | Think Nursing

So what is your weekly schedule like?
It varies from week to week. At the moment, I only have classes on Fridays. My classes are scheduled to be 9am - 4pm, but can vary from 8am - 6pm and any time in between.

How often do you scream over your studies?

Every time I look at my text books.

What is your next comp test on?
What's a comp test? :o

I think they're called competency tests, you know, like if you can insert a catheter into a dummy's yoo-hoo or something like that using proper, sterile technique.

Anyway, what made you decide that you wanted to be a nurse?

What do your parents do in life and how close are you with them?

Any pets?

Have you ever went crazy? If so, please share this experience with us! *lol*

Why do you think God gave you life in this world? Sorry. That was probably a little too deep. *lol*

Do you strive for perfect hair every day? If you do, what are your product secrets?

What is the best thing you're good at?

Have you ever tried to save a person? I mean this like either physically or spiritually, if so, I would like details of this also please. :D

Oh! My school just calls those plain ol' exams. :) I don't know when my next one is (we're nearing placement, and after placement it's end of term), but I did get 90% on my last practical examination - I had to transfer a dummy to a wheelchair and then shower it.

Anyway, what made you decide that you wanted to be a nurse?
I feel that administering care is where God is leading me in life.

What do your parents do in life and how close are you with them?
My mother is a horticulturalist and my father owns a transport company. I'm very close to them - in the next room, in fact! ;) In all seriousness, though, my mother is my greatest mentor and my father is my best friend.

Any pets?
Two dogs - female jack russells, one cat - female tabby. We adopted one of the dogs as an elderly, abused dog. We'll be getting a border collie who has been badly abused by it's owner (shock collar and all) soon.

Have you ever went crazy? If so, please share this experience with us! *lol*
What exactly do you mean by went crazy? xD

Why do you think God gave you life in this world? Sorry. That was probably a little too deep. *lol*
Oh, not at all - it's related to my career choice. I think that God gave me this life so that I could help people.

Do you strive for perfect hair every day? If you do, what are your product secrets?
I couldn't care less about my hair and I'm forever cutting it shorter and shorter.

What is the best thing you're good at?
Having a .gif for every moment.

Have you ever tried to save a person? I mean this like either physically or spiritually, if so, I would like details of this also please. :D
Not really. Spiritually, I've explained my beliefs to my friends and answered questions they've had, but never evangelised. Physically, the closest I came was shouting at the person who was driving a boat that my mother was water skiing behind - he was pushing her too close to trees.
