My little sister has depression and has slowly been becoming more so ever since telling us she was an atheist. Recently, she has become even more withdrawn and is beginning to worry her own friends and our family about being potentially suicidal. My mother is taking necessary steps to get her to a therapist and mental evaluation, but in the mean time PLEASE pray for her. Her name is Sophie. She is just very sad with an extremely negative outlook on everything.

Please pray for her soul. Pray that God relieves some of her pain. That He breaks through her harden heart. That He comforts her with His love.

She may actually be an atheist because she thinks Christians are aggressive, mean-spirited, or dumb. Some of the most outwardly Christian people in my family are very aggressive about their beliefs, almost to the point of running over the boundaries of other people, which actually makes me depressed. Maybe you should tell your sister you love her and give her some space to find happiness in her own way, even if it's not exactly the way you would do it. The Holy Spirit can work through people without having to convert them or make them publicly declare that they believe in Jesus. I'm going to pray for YOU first and then for your sister.

I ask for a prayer for my sister. Didn't say a single thing about how we talk to her or treat her, and you immediately start making accusations. That's what's depressing to me.

As a matter of fact, we don't talk religion with her because I know it's a trigger topic for her and only makes her angry, and if I brought up God it's never been in the fashion as you stated. I actually agree with you that just being an example of who Christ is and living as He would live - through love and acceptance - is a better way to reach people than just standing on a street corner and preaching.

However, everything you said there is so wrong. I think you're displacing the anger you have about the aggressive christians in your own family and taking that out on me, even though you don't know who I am and are utterly mistaken. Good luck to you.

Father, sometimes a person becomes an atheist for a reason that can sometimes be simply dealt with. Sometimes they just need a good explanation of something that has led them to choose atheism. Father, whether simple or difficult, I pray that this sister will receive what she needs to bring her belief in You, and then faith in Christ to save her, keep her, and provide all she needs in this life and in eternity. Father, sometimes a person becomes an atheist for a reason that can sometimes be simply dealt with. Sometimes they just need a good explanation of something that has led them to choose atheism. Father, whether simple or difficult, I pray that this sister will receive what she needs to bring her belief in You, and then faith in Christ to save her, keep her, and provide all she needs in this life and in eternity. I used to be an atheist . But I “had” to be! You see, I saw myself as a smart individual....and as we ALL know , smart people don’t believe in stuff like that......it’s merely for those that need a “crutch “ to make it through life.what a fool I was! What A graceous God we have!

Yes Greg ,and to me there is absolutely Nothing as boring as an intellectual or secular discussion about Christianity by those that are Spirituall blind....Zzzzzzzzzz....
