The most difficult prayer to pray, for most of us, is the prayer that should be the easiest.
Once my friend told me that she had a filing cabinet.
When she prayed and got an answer she did not like she
would file it away and pray again.
My little friend has a great sense of humor but it is so true of us as christians. We pray-file the answer and pray again. It seems we always have a desired answer in mind when we pray and nothing short of that is acceptable.
One reason we are called christians because we are supposedly followers of Christ. But Jesus never prayed that way.
Jesus always said, "Not my will but Thine be done." We
go to our churches and we sing that way. "Have Thine
Own Way", "As seemeth Best To Thee", and so many
others.
It's one thing to sing. It is quite another to practice.
Father, tonight, I lay my heart at Your feet. I ask You to examine it and remove anything there that ought not to be; Any unforgiveness, or wrong desires, or fears, or anything that would hinder my relationship or service to You. Then fill my heart with right thoughts and love and an
overwhelming desire to please only You, and do do Your will, whatever that might be. Father grant me strength,
and knowlege, and wisdom and undertsanding along
with a clean heart and a right spirit that I might be
a fit vessel for Your use. I thank You and praise You for the answer to this prayer, in the Sweet and precious Name of Jesus. And so it is!
