• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is my first post in here, and I can only hope that it may be well received.

Maybe you are seeking God’s hands, asking Him to give you a better life; an improved health, a better place to live, more money or material things ... and I don’t say that it is wrong to do that, but ...

... I just want to encourage you to seek God’s face more than to seek His hands; to seek His Fatherheart; and to grasp more of His love and His grace for you. It is just so wonderful to be in His presence and sit at His feet, and to be content and feel at home there.

Matthew 6:33 says: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

There is a beautiful little song that I have on a CD, which goes like this, and it is good to listen to when meditating:

‘’At the feet of Jesus,

it’s where I wanna be,

to feel Your Holy Spirit

breath His life in me.

Laying down my burdens,

Casting all my cares,

Resting in Your presence,

Knowing You are there.’’

May God bless you and wrap His loving arms around you.

Great Post:thumbsup: and oh so true.....this reminds me of Martha telling Jesus to tell Mary to help her serve, but the Master said she has truly found what is more important, sitting at Jesus' feet! (my emphasis of course);)

It also reminds me of the song Alabaster Box by CeCe Winans......

Dont be angry
If I wash His feet with my tears
and dry them with my hair
You werent there the night he found me
You dont how he wrapped his loving arms around me
and you dont know the cost of the oil in my Alabaster Box:bow:

Oh Hallelujah, Praise God Almighty for his mercy endures forever!!!!!

such encouragement. To back that up with some Scripture that strikes me:

Numbers (B'midbar) 6:22-27
ADONAI said to Moshe,
"Speak to Aharon and his sons, and tell them that this is how you are to bless the people of Isra'el: you are to say to them,

'Y'varekh'kha ADONAI v'yishmerekha.
[May ADONAI bless you and keep you.]
Ya'er ADONAI panav eleikha vichunekka.
[May ADONAI make his face shine on you and show you his favor.]
Yissa ADONAI panav eleikha v'yasem l'kha shalom.
[May ADONAI lift up his face toward you and give you peace.]'

"In this way they are to put my name on the people of Isra'el, so that I will bless them."
2Ch 7:14 - then, if my people, who bear my name, will humble themselves, pray, seek my face and turn from their evil ways, I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin and heal their land.
Ps 17:15 -But my prayer, in righteousness, is to see your face; on waking, may I be satisfied with a vision of you.
Psalms 27:7-14
7 Listen, ADONAI, to my voice when I cry; show favor to me; and answer me. 8 "My heart said of you, 'Seek my face.'"Your face, ADONAI, I will seek. 9 Do not hide your face from me, don't turn your servant away in anger. You are my help; don't abandon me; don't leave me, God my savior. 10 Even though my father and mother have left me, ADONAI will care for me. 11 Teach me your way, ADONAI; lead me on a level path because of my enemies 12 don't give me up to the whims of my foes; for false witnesses have risen against me, also those who are breathing violence. 13 If I hadn't believed that I would see ADONAI's goodness in the land of the living, . . . 14 Put your hope in ADONAI, be strong, and let your heart take courage! Yes, put your hope in ADONAI!

Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

This passage has a special meaning to me. I started reading the Bible when I lost "all these things." Soon I learned that Jesus came to save my soul, not to take care of my "all these things."

Whenever I read this passage, my carnal mind coveted "all these things." In a sense, I was attracted to this passage more because of the promise, "all these things," than because of a pure desire to seek the kingdom of God.

Looking back, my search for the kingdom of God was woefully inadequate and impure. But, the Lord accepted me and revealed himself to me. That's how my Christian walk started.

''All these things'' doesn't necessarily have to mean material things, wealth and values of this world, I think.

The deeper relationship we have with Jesus, the more we grasp of what a treasure He really is.

The things and values of this world will fade away, but God's word will never fade away. We who have our lives hidden in Christ, are standing on a solid rock. He is our safe harbor through storms in our lives, and He is faithful and full of mercy. May we all seek His face and set our eyes on Him.

NorwayUmn,

Really good subject. TammyinChrist's post is what first comes to mind when I think of sitting at His feet.

Keep posting! See! It wasn't that hard, was it? :p

Dearest Unni - great to see this - what a blessing you are!

I have this verse I call a Love Psalm which, I think, is along these lines. I wrote it after feeling that very sensation whilst in prayer with a dear friend. We both felt it.

LOVE PSALM

I feel Your soft caresses, Your warm breath
Cascading down over my head and shoulders
Down my arms like silk chiffon.
You are the core of my body,
The essence of my soul
My heart's beat, the breath of my life.
You are the meaning of my life,
My Saviour, my Father, my God.
I, whose rightful place is to kneel at Your feet in penitence
Hardly daring to touch the tip of Your toe with my tears,
How is it possible for me to stand before You thus?
Only by the love of Christ, the blood of the Lamb
The desire of God to be united with His people.
Only because of this can I stand before You,
Be one of Your sheep, Your beloved child.
Only thus can I dare to love You and return
A tiny part of that love You have expressed to me
My Holy Saviour, my Father, my God.

It's been awhile! Thanks for this lovely poetry.

The Apple Tree

Jesus Christ the Apple Tree
The tree of life my soul hath seen,
Laden with fruit and always green:
The tree of life my soul hath seen,
Laden with fruit and always green:
The trees of nature fruitless be
Compared with Christ the apple tree.

His beauty doth all things excel:
By faith I know, but ne’er can tell,
His beauty doth all things excel:
By faith I know, but ne’er can tell
The glory which I now can see
In Jesus Christ the apple tree.

For happiness I long have sought,
And pleasure dearly I have bought:
For happiness I long have sought,
And pleasure dearly I have bought:
I missed of all; but now I see
’Tis found in Christ the apple tree.

I’m weary with my former toil,
Here I will sit and rest a while:
I’m weary with my former toil,
Here I will sit and rest a while:
Under the shadow I will be,
Of Jesus Christ the apple tree.

This fruit doth make my soul to thrive,
It keeps my dying faith alive:
This fruit doth make my soul to thrive,
It keeps my dying faith alive:
Which makes my soul in haste to be
With Jesus Christ the apple tree.
