  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The gentiles are common vessels and the Jews are vessels made for a special purpose (the same analogy is used by Paul in 2 Tim. 2:20 (same Greek words). Nothing leaves the Potter's shop made ready for destruction, since potters at that time did not make clay pigeons, but put there mark on everything they made. Those ready for destruction common or special are those that were poorly cared for and broke. It is not talking about God predestining individuals for salvation and others for hell, but how it does not matter if you started out a Jew (made for a very special purpose or a Gentile (made for a common purpose) when it comes to that all important decision to accept or reject God's Charity. Either party can become worthless by becoming cracked, but that is after it left the potter's shop in great shape.
