Some of you know from reading my first posts on this forum that I'm just starting to rediscover my christianity. Even though I've always considered myself a christian (Baptist, only because that's what my parents are), I was never really a practicing christian. I always thought it was just enough to believe in God. Now that I am getting older, I am interested in rediscovering my christian roots. In the process of trying to decide what version/versions of the bible is/are the closest one to the original, I am looking at an online bible where you can search different versions of the bible by typing in keywords or even books like Revelations, John, Mathew, etc. I am mostly searching the NIV version only because that's the default version on this website I'm looking at. I am trying to slowly get my feet wet again with christianity by looking at a few interesting things about what's in store for us. I typed in the keyword "Armageddon" and nothing came up. My question is, where in the bible is armageddon mentioned?

Hi Mike and welcome to God's House.
I recommend you getting a good bible [I read the NIV or NKJV myself], pick a quiet time, pray to God through His Son Jesus, then just enjoy God's great BOOK. Give yourself to Jesus everyday and live your life for Him, because God is indeed real!!!
I would advise staying away from endtime fiction books and sites unless you just want to read them as "entertainment".[I never read one of them] Just my humble opinion.:amen:
As far as endtimes, read Ezekiel and revelation together and I think you may understand Armeggedon better. Don't try and figure out what the 1000yr period is, as most don't know whethere it is symbolic or litera, including myself.
But looking closely at both events in revelation 19 and 20, they appear the same to me. Anyway, according to Paul, Christ comes one more time then the END. Whether revelation is showing this or not, I don't know. Whatever ezekiel 39 is showing, it is the day God glorifies Himself and a new Day dawns. Halleluia:preach: :amen:

reve 19:17 Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, "Come and gather together for the supper of the great God, 18 "that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all [people,] free and slave, both small and great." 19

Ezekiel 39:8 "Surely it is coming, and it shall be done," says the Lord GOD. "This [is] the day of which I have spoken. 13 "Indeed all the people of the land will be burying, and they will gain renown for it on the day that I am glorified," says the Lord GOD. 15 "The search party will pass through the land; and [when anyone] sees a man's bone, he shall set up a marker by it, till the buriers have buried it in the Valley of Hamon Gog. 17 " And as for you, son of man, thus says the Lord GOD, 'Speak to every sort of bird and to every beast of the field: "Assemble yourselves and come; Gather together from all sides to My sacrificial meal Which I am sacrificing for you, A great sacrificial meal on the mountains of Israel, That you may eat flesh and drink blood. 18 You shall eat the flesh of the mighty, Drink the blood of the princes of the earth, Of rams and lambs, Of goats and bulls, All of them fatlings of Bashan. . 21 " I will set My glory among the nations; all the nations shall see My judgment which I have executed, and My hand which I have laid on them.

1 corin 2:13 These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know [them,] because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is [rightly] judged by no one. 16 For "who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?" But we have the mind of Christ.

You beat me to my next question. I was going to ask if anyone had any theories about when they thought all this might happen. I find this subject very interesting. Besides, if we knew when all this might happen, wouldn't it prepare us for it?

Armageddon is Hebrew meaning 'valley of Megiddo.' 2 Chr 35:22, Rev 16:16. As for Bible versions, stick with the KJV and learn old English. The KJV is the best English translation, and one of only two available today that are actually based on the God-preserved Hebrew and Greek texts of Scripture, the other being the NKJV and it is not half as accurate as the KJV. All the other translations are based on a false-notion that God was too weak to preserve his word and that he let it disappear and now super-smart textual critics with uber-divination powers have got to re-create it as it read almost 2000 years ago. These critics have been at it since the 1840s, and have produced over 43 different Greek texts and they still are not content to believe that they have the word of God, yet they translate their forged texts into English and expect us to believe it. BUT DON'T! The KJV is the real deal - all else is sinking sand.
