  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi! I've just recently been studying Revelations(for about a month now)and i am soooo excited about the prophesies! I am speculating that the end times are near, the bible speaks of hours, i say we are in the eleventh now. There is a prophesy from a catholic man who lived in the fourteenth century. He gave descriptions of all the popes that would come into leadership before God's glorious return. Each of his prefigures came into being. the last of the popes he described(he did not say names, but he gave them new, descriptive names)was known as a "Roman". Well, after the recent death of Pope John paul the second, there are only two more popes left before the end(one more before the Roman). I am not afraid, nor anxious, I am so excited, I wish to tell everyone the good news. What do you think?

I'd also like to hear anything you guys have to say about this.

I agree, however, God asks us to keep our eyes on the signs of the times. When men enlightened by God prophesy for him, i think we should heed their words. I don't know exactly what you meant, but it sounded kinda' like this: God put everything we need to know in the Bible, therefore we don't need to pay attention to anything else. I definately am intrigued by prophesies. Also, the Bible is stocked with prophesies and i have started making a checklist of all the fulfilled prophesies.
I am gonna' go watch THE STING, bye.

We are to keep our eye on the times, but no one knows the hour or the day, not even the Son. I don't think any person on earth, past or present, can predict with any accuracy the Second Coming. To set the clock by the Popes, IMO, reeks of Nostradamis. I know they are not related, but I am saying that I do not think this holds much water. I have heard that this guy predicted this pope as the last one before the last. I think the end times are near, but I would look to Scripture for signs rather than a man.

The prophecies about the end-times/Revelation are awesome, and I used to be so focused on them. If you do that, though, you don't look at the present and just focus on everything around you that needs your help and love. Imagine if we were people hundreds of years ago, and only looked to the skies to see when Jesus was coming...he didn't come in their lifetime. I think we're in the end-times as well, but just make sure you focus on reading and studying the whole bible as well. Revelation is definitely the "action" part of the Bible, though. It's my favorite book.
