Hi Holly. You've heard from me before on creation issues. I can't vote in your poll because I believe in an old earth and a young creation. I don't hold that the beginning as stated in Gen. 1:1 is the same as the first 'day' of the six day creation week. So, there needs to be a category for Old universe with raw earth and young biology with finished earth (YBC). So within the creation models, you could have:

YEC (everything < 10k)
YBC (mine)
OEC (day-age; gap; progressive creation etc.)
Other: ?

Old earth creationists would probably be more common on the theistic evolution forum. This forum is primarily a place for young earth creationists to talk without a lot of debate and controversy.

I'm young earth. I've read articles from both camps and I've decided that a young earth is more consistent with the truths of the Bible. I hold the Bible to be 100% true and I believe Genesis to be a literal account.

I am currently inbetween creation models. I consider myself OEC, but recently I learned that most of the respected Hebrew Scholars say that the days in Genesis one cannot refer to 1000 years, but 24 hours due to the way it is used. I am still iffy on that. As for the age of the earth, it is old. As for evolution: nothing but a silly scientism. Oh, and on the whole world flood thing: I can see it both ways, but I still go with my early teachings on the matter, it was worldwide. So I guess you could call me an OEC with slight YEC tendencies ;)

Isaiah 65:17 niv
"Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind."

After that takes place there will be a new creation on an older earth than that creation. It is the modus operandi of God creating new ages.

I am sure that if somone during that new earth age digs deep enough, he may find bones from this creation. Lions will lay down and eat straw with the lamb in his creation. Lion's teeth of our age will not match his age's design. Will some think that creation evolved? Or, will they believe they are of the same creation like YEC's, do?

God will replace this creation with a new one. Just like he replaced the prehistoric one with the one we now see. God tells us he will replace this creation with a new one! He has shown us what he does!

This planet is old. Very old. But the creation we now find on its surface is new in comparison. Matter of fact, a great deal of the organic material from the older creations were drained off and put below the earth. That is where we get our oil supply from. Do you realize how massive that oil supply is? Oceans of decayed organic material had pre-existed our own. There are seas of it below the earth. I believe it was the old surface creation that was drained off by God and deposited for the future. After all, it is called "dino oil." Right?

Grace and peace, GeneZ

YEC, 100 percent!! :)

I don't see why people want to make the Word of God so difficult. They would rather believe something as complicated as evolution , when creation is so much easier to understand.

When God does something, THERE IS NO HALFWAY! He does it RIGHT, ALL THE WAY! :)

It's nice to find a forum where there are people who actually agree!

I used to be OEC, and could not believe that the earth was young, because of all the "scientific evidence" that I'd been hit with all my life.

So when our financial advisor lent me some Hovind tapes espousing YEC, I went into it with an open mind, but did not think I would be convinced. I was wrong. It makes me sick that so much knowledge is being hidden from school children because it weakens faith in evolution.

I know about Rev. Hovind. He's great, isn't he? I like his presentation, too! ;)

Hovind?

Howdy comrade... Hovind, well he is a bit goofy but I agree with him on very select parts of Creation.

I find his quote about the we are the magic rock apes..It is so funny when you read into it..I think he does it to antagonize hardcore evolutionists. ^_^
