SallyNow said:Nope, here in Canada we get the real Are You Being Served, the one from Britian. It's on at least two channels, one of which is Canadian, and one, PBS, that's American. No cheap imitationsActually, PBS gets a lot of British programming. Kind of ruins the chances that cheap rip-off will occur, I think.
Yes, that is the show. I love that show. Compo is my fav on the show. I love how noisy Hyasith is, poor Richard. No I have not seem Heartbeat or Only fools and horses. If you can help me, there is a show that has four guys who live in a run down flat. One of the is named vivian. What is the name? I catch it on the BBC-America sometimes. Are the any American show shown over there that you like? Thanks Gov!!!Andy Broadley said:Is the programme you mean called 'Last of the summer wine'? (The 3 old guys in the Yorkshie village, Nora Batty and all that)
If it is then you might be interested to know that I've had a cup of tea in Ivy's cafe, A few (well quite a lot actually) years ago I took a party of pensioners on a day trip to the Yorkshire village where the series is filmed. It was quite good walking past the pub, and Nora batty's house and going in the Cafe.
I agree with you about Hyasinth too. That is a funny show. There is another good show which would go down well in America and it's called Heartbeat. That is also filme in Yorkshire, in the village of Goathland. Been there as well.
Have they sent you 'Only fools and horses' yet ?
SallyNow said:I love some of the British sitcoms like AYBS and Keeping Up Appearances, and I also love British mysteries-Midsomer Murders, Hetty Winthrop(although I haven't seen much of it yet), Agatha Christie screen adaptations, and that new one...um...Inspector Lynley. And Rosmary and Thyme is good for a relaxing, mysterious time.
I've seen Touch, but never actually watched it...I'll to try it sometime! I just discovered My Family...my mom has been watching it for a while, and finally convinced to watch it too!Andy Broadley said:In that case, try 'A Touch of Frost' if it gets shown over there. Best of the lot. And lookout for a sitcom called 'My Family' starring Robrt 'Jesus Christ' Lindsay, and Zoe (Madame Hooch - Harry Potter) Wannamaker. Hilarious.
