  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Are you a true worshipper?

True worship is God-centered worship. People tend to get caught up in where they should worship, what music they should sing in worship, and how the worship looks to other people. Focusing on these things completely misses the point. Jesus tells us that true worshipers will worship God in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). This means we worship from the heart and the way God calls us to. Worship can include praying, reading God's Word with an open heart, singing, participating in communion, posting on a forum or serving others. It is not limited to one act, but is done properly when the heart and attitude of the person is in the right place. In truth, are you worshipping God in everything that you do?

The first thing we should know is that worship and praise is reserved only for God. Only he is worthy; not any of his servants (Rev 19:10). We are not to worship saints, prophets, statues, angels, any other false gods, or even Mary, mother of Jesus. We also should not be worshiping for the expectation of something in return, such as a miraculous healing. Worship is done for God, and God's pleasure alone. Worship can be public praise to God (Ps 22:22, 35:18), in a congregational setting, where we can proclaim through music and praise our adoration and thankfulness for him and what he has done for us. True worship is felt inwardly, then comes out through our actions. "Going through the motions" out of obligation is unpleasing to God, and is done completely in vain. He can see through all the hypocrisy, and he hates this. He demonstrates this in Amos 5:21-24 as he talks about coming judgment. An example is the story of Cain and Abel, the first sons of Adam and Eve. They both brought gift offerings to the Lord, but he was only pleased with Abel's. Cain brought the gift out of obligation; Abel brought his finest lambs from his flock. He brought out of faith and admiration for God.

True worship is not confined to singing in church, or open praise (although these things are both good and we are told to do them in the Bible), but it is the acknowledgment of God and all his power and glory in the things we do EVERYDAY. To do this, we must know God, we can not be ignorant of him (Acts 17:23). Worship is to glorify and exalt God; to show our loyalty and admiration to our Father.

Amen  ! Worship is so important, but so many people look at it as a burden. I personally love to praise and worship God, in public and in private. I like doing it in private better because it's just me and God. I love being in the presence of God, and just to know that He's with me and inhabiting my praises. Just yesterday I opened my Bible to the book of Psalms, and I started singing out the psalms of David to the Lord. I don't sing that great, but it was like I was singing to my Father and He just embraced me with His love. I wish more people would forget what anybody thinks of them or how stupid they think it looks, and just worship God. There's nothing like welcoming the presence of God into our lives. ;)

Amen. I for one am very thankful that God has placed down in me his loving spirit. I thank him always for his anoiting that rest on me so that I can worship him in spirit & in truth. Without his spirit there could be no true worship. Praise you O God for being true & instilling your loving spirit into us. Praise be to your Holy name. If you shall not call me to do anything of great magnitude I plead to always be able to worship you in & by your spirit Amen

Very good! True worship is done out of love. True worship should be done every day, every chance we have to show our love. It is NOT just a church thing. God experiences great joy when we worship Him. I will often sit quietly and tell Him something like this:

Most Magnificent Father, I send all my love up to you, that your day will be filled with peace, joy and laughter. You are truly the Great God of Israel and an incredible friend. My desire is to be a sweet sound in your ears, a sweet sight in your eyes and a sweet thought in your mind. I wish to be a blessing to you, every minute of every day. You are much, much more than a god. You are a god who is filled with goodness, kindness, love and mercy. You are tender and gentle. You laugh and cry with us. You have the power to create the heavens, yet the tenderness to gently touch a single hair on our head. You are slow to anger and quick to forgive. I wish to be your child, a member of your family. I will be a child who will bring joy to your heart and a smile to your mouth. Most Magnificent Father, I pray that your day will be blessed and that all of your children will bring you laughter and joy.

Afterwards, I can often sense his joy as it comes back to me.

Everything we do should be an act of worship, but it is not. Our lives should exhuberate worship, but it does not. Our fellowship should exalt God and bring Him to the front, but most of the time it does not. Worship is a way of living the word of God from the inside out. Worship is not only how we show our love to God, but how we show our love to each other. Showing love to one another worships God and proves His word dwells in you. Worship is everything that we do and should be in everything that we do. Even eating, you should worship God before eating, not just pray over your food, but worship Him knowing that it is because of Him that you eat, live, breath and move. Worship is living God's word explicitly and without limits. That is where I want to be. I assure that I will get there.

You definitely will! God enjoys what you are doing at the moment, and He will continue His work in you to make you even better!
