I guess I should start...:p

I work with an organization called Mercy Ships (http://MercyShips.org). We have a fleet of 2 ships (& buliding #3) that go to the poorest countries in the world providing relief for the people there.
Among the things we do are-
-Remove facial tumors & deformities, prevelant in Africa
-Restore sight (via Laser) to the blind
-Fit victims of civil wars with free prosthetics
-Heal and comfort the sick
-Build houses,schools,churches,clinics,irrigation systems, etc...
-Help to develop the community
-And manage to tell people about Jesus!

Our crews are from 50 different countries, All Nationalities, Races, Genders, Occupations (or NO occupation!), Denominations, and Ages are represented. We even have families on board! All crew are long/short term volunteers.
It's an awesome, dynamic ministry that I am honored to be a part of.
To see some cartoons I drew of the ship, go to http://ericthibodeau.com/cbm
Thanx and blessing to all of you in the field and out!

I am a full time missionary and work out of Louisianna with a group called Friendships, we are very similiar to mercy ships. We have 4 cargo ships that carry cargo all over the world for disaster relief. We have a port in Lake Charles Louisianna, another in Roaton Hunduras, and several wharehouses in california. Very cool ministry :)

Pray4Isrel: those pictures were awesome! thanks for sharing they really blessed me. it makes me miss all my friends i've met on past mission trips.
i may go to germany this summer for 5 weeks..i'm not sure yet. i feel like maybe the Lord wants me to go back to japan for 3 weeks..i'm not sure what he wants me to do or i may go to mexico...beats me. ha...one of my favorite mission trips has been to mexico..i loooove it!!
i have 4 months left of highschool..praise the Lord! so i'm planning on majoring in bilingual edu. (spanish) i'm also learning sign language, but does every country have different signlanguage? anyway, so hopefully God will be able to use me thru that. so in the mean time i just have to remember that america is a great mission field as well, and you don't have to go to another country to tell others about Christ. although, sometimes is so hard because i just want to travel everywhere and tell people about the Lord. yeah...waiting is so hard...but God's knows the plans he has for me. so all is GREAT!
if yall have any stories or anything about your mission trips i would love to hear them!! :)

My good friend Jim was with Mercy Ships for a year to the Philippines. He had an amazing time. He even married a girl from there and they now have a family here in the USA.

Wow, when you said he had a good time, you weren't kidding! ;) But seriously, best of luck to all of you in the field. I'm sure it can get pretty difficult at times.

I have been on 4 short term missions trips. I have gone to South Carolina Twice, and in the past 6 months I have been to Mexico and Ecuador. I don't know where God is going to take me next. I am of course just getting my feet wet but I feel that in my heart I could do missions full time. If that is where God takes me!!

China is the most fascinating experience for anyone interested in missions. God is moving in ways we do not understand. In spite of persecution (or because of) the number of believers has exploded. The need for Bibles is great and the people, culture and sights are unbelievable.

I would tend to second your

"Because of persecution"

assesment.

well i'm back in australia now.... but last year i spent time as a missionary in The Gambia... on the West Coast of Africa (locals call it the Smiling Coast :D )

i'm a computer technician so i travelled all over the country to all of the WEC outposts repairing their computers and setting up networks to make communication more effective... i also worked in the local university... teaching bible studies and out reach to Muslims.

but...........

hey quick question to all the other mk's around here - what do u do when u feel like you don't have a home country cus ur a mix of too many different cultures? (i.e. when u go "home" and don't feel like u fit in)

kiwibrazilianmk mate - my main ministry i found while i was there in the Gambia was hanging out with the young male mks.... mate i know it must be tough hey... the boys i hung with felt just like you... like they didn't really belong anywhere. And life is so busy for missionaries that sometimes family time is pretty low too.

all i can say dude is that u don't need to belong anywhere except heaven! God's got an awesome plan for your life... u may not feel like u have a 'home' but that's because our true homes are in heaven!!! so know that though here on earth things might be weird, one day we're all going to walk into our true home......... and it's gonna be so awesome!!!!!!!
