I'm taking 3d-animation at college right now to become a video game designer. Yes, I am one of those evil people who wants to turn you all into addicts who want more games and sex, growing more and more obese. Or at least, that is what the media wants you to think of me.

The human race likes to point fingers. It isn't surprising, because the very first time we did something wrong, what did we do?

God, its that woman you gave me that made me take that fruit.
God to the woman, is that true.
Woman, yes, but it was that serpent who made me take that fruit.
God, well serpent, you're cursed.

But, in the end of the day, who took the fruit, and who had the ability to decide not to do that evil thing? The man and woman.

Now, video games are not on the same level as this. Video games are a tool of entertainment. A video game to entertainment is the same as a hammer to driving in nails. They are just tools towards a goal. Now, with that being said, people can decide to use a hammer to smash someone's skull in. Do we say how evil hammers are, if someone who is sick does that. No. Now you say, a person gets more pleasure using a video game than a hammer. I would argue you to say, if someone uses a hammer to create a chest of drawers, or an armiore, or a chair. Don't they gain a sense of accomplishment and joy as someone who finishes a video game? That's something people don't get. But someone who does that and gains a lot of skill in that can become the next Bob Vila, and nobody says anything, and it isn't a addiction because someone can make a good living as a craftsman. But if someone becomes obsessed with his craft could end up ruining their life if they don't balance it a spiritual life, exercising, family life, learning, financially, friends, and doing some community work.

Video games can also be destructive if you don't balance it out. But that isn't the game developers, like myself, fault. It's the fault of the individual for making something that important. If they aren't exploring their spiritual lives, if they are not exercising, spending time with family, learning, being financiall secure, spending time with friends, and helping the community.

I know that is a fact because between the ages of 15 to 19 years of age, I dropped out of high school and played video games about 6-8 hours a day, because I wanted to run away from life. It wasn't the video game's fault, it was my fault.

I still play video games, but I only play during the weekends, and for only two or three hours a day on the weekends. I decided that exercising and working hard to achieve my goals, hanging out with friends, reading my Bible and praying was a little more important than playing a video game.

People want to blame others for the things they are doing wrong, because it's easy. What's harder is to look at ourselves and say it is our fault for doing those things, and that we need to change and live a healthier and more balanced life style.

I don't want people to live unhealthy lives. I want to entertain people, share my thoughts and feelings about things with them, and I want to be creative.

So, the next time you think, the gaming industry is ruining the world, remember, they only want to entertain people and be creative. It's not their fault, but the individuals who are not living a balanced life.

Is eating meat evil? Paul says if it is going to cause his brother to stumble he won't eat meat anymore. Myself, I am more lenient than that. If eating meat causes my brother to stumble I won't eat it in front of him, but I'll eat it elsewhere when he isn't there to stumble. Same with video games (or any other activity). If my playing causes a brother or sister in Christ to stumble then I won't do it around them.

My opinion for whatever it's worth is that you are correct. It's like saying books are evil because of the existence of the Bible of satan, or Harry Potter books (my opinion, I know some people think HP's a saint...), or playboy magazines, that would be falsely accusing all books of being evil because you've found a few that are (while forgetting that the Bible is a book).
Video games, yes there are some bad ones out there, some have nudity, some have horrible amounts of swearing and blood and gore (overly done, a moderate amount I have no problem with). So yes, SOME video games are evil. But not all of them are. You just have to be wise in the games you play, and how much of the games you play.

With that said, compare it with human beings. A single human being, or a whole group apart from another group of humans can be evil, doing evil things, even causing others to be addicted to the person or that people group. Does that make the entire human race evil?
I dare say not. Just be conscience of what games you play (or make), and how long you spend doing it (so that you do not become glutenous or addicted to/with it) and there's no harm in it.

And that's my opinion.

I dont believe Video Games are evil I do believe in if you act out in real life whats on the game isnt good. The games I agree are entertainmenet and for that purpose only not to act out in real life whats on a game.. If you do that then yeah games arent for you to play with..

As for the person whom said about a scripture about Paul stating he wont allow some one to stumble due to say for example if a person doesnt drink soda and I do should that mean that I dont drink a pop in front of them or should they exercise self control and accept that I drink a pop and they dont..

What I'm saying is, just because one person does something doesnt mean we have to be all tip-toe around someone just cause we like doing or having something.. We dont force people to say eat pork or drink pop or play video games.. We each have self control to have that right to refuse and acceptance of each other (tolorance)

Sorry but this is a deep issue for me and when others say they would say not cause thier brother or sister to stumble but again why shoould (general you) to stop doing something just because of what to please someone else...

Sorry for the ramble... Just a issue I have...

Yeah, I agree with you on that. There's being respectful of other people's beliefs - however, if they're immature beliefs then it's also the responsibility of the other person to grow up, so to speak.

Basically video games are not evil at all. It's ok to play video games and love them. But if you love video games more than God, that is definitely evil. I'm a hardcore gamer and I play a lot of video games. But you need to bear in mind, don't let video games enslaved you until it affects your relationship with God.

In other words, before you do anything else in life, always place God first. I mean hey I do use video games' perspective on my personal relationship with God. For example, I play Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War and I sometimes address God as "The Emperor". That's why when I give God praise I sometimes say "Praise The Emperor".

There's nothing wrong with games in general. It's how people react to them that's bad. Somebody can kill another person with a gun. The gun isn't evil. The person is the one who did it.

And if you do want to call some of these things tempations, aren't we stronger when we overcome temptations.

I hold strong to the belief that games in general are not wrong, but certain ones can be, like R rated movies.

However, I do believe some can have a strong hold on people...

Hopefully these videos are allowed:

World of Warcraft Account Canceled Reaction:
YouTube - World Of WarCraft Account Cancelled

World of Warcraft Addict:
YouTube - World of Warcraft Addict

I have nothing against WoW, but this goes to show that video games can be taken too far.
